What percent of the military would fight with the American citizens against the government, if we got into another Civil War?
I think it would be about 90%. I think our soldiers know that Congress (democratically controlled) aren't listening to Americans at home, or to them. This questions relates to all issues, especially illegal alien trespassing, the war, and anything else you can think of, where Congress is doing what they want, rather than what we citizens want.
Remember that Congress is still continuing to try and pass an amnesty bill for illegal aliens (mostly Mexican) to enter our country, against 98% of Americans, Liberal, and Conservatives, who want illegals gone. What do you think? I would especially like to hear from the military, and their families. Thanks.

Some of yall are misunderstanding me. I am for the war on terrorism. I believe it is the right course we are on. I merely just want to know if there was a full blown civil war in America today, would the military feel more loyal to the government, or the people? Who does the military fight on behalf of, the freedom of the people, and their lives, or the government?

For my part, politicians, both Dems and Reps have lost a lot of credibility. They are, as you say, doing what they want and not what the American people want. While I am all for LEGAL entrance into this country, the illegals far outnumber them. And they are receiving benefits off hand that I had to fight for. I had to go thru quite a process to get my social security and illegals are receiving in kind benefits that my own family, who were born here, cannot get. Illegals keep talking about their rights. As far as I'm concerned, they have no rights. They haven't earned them as so many Americans have. As to your question, if came down to a civil war within our own country, I dare say that the percentage of military (including high ranking officers) that would fight with the American citizens is above 90%. Even many of the Hispanic soldiers would because they have paid the price and they understand what it means to be a true American. Their benefits are being infringed upon as well. Again I hold no animosity for those who wish to come to this country legally. The Grand Lady welcomes those.

I believe the civilian population will be the ones to create any changes to our government. The military would not take arms against the government they have sworn to up hold. The idea that a civil war is the answer is to ridiculous to consider. I do agree that Congress has not been listening to the people and that is why there are ways around them.
I love this country.
God Bless America

I think the KEY factor would be WHO is leading a revolt, and to WHAT purpose !!

I agree with your points that need "correction", but I don't see those points as worthy of commencing civil-war or a military coup.

I mean WHAT would the military do ? Sieze Washington DC, imprison the Congress, and enact laws by military fiat? That in itself would defeat the oath we ALL took to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

NOW, if the American People were to vote some form of MANDATE for Congress to take certain actions and the Congress refused... I could see the people demanding action.

The BIGGEST effect the military could have is with THEIR votes !!

Depends on the situation.

I wouldnt start anything, but would get involved if the cause I support was doing things properly.

Otherwise Id just fight my own way not aligning with either side-Im sure many others feel the same way.
Unfortunately the independent people are less likely to win due to this.

I think the US Military could be a very strong political force in their own right. If it came to war then I think it would be more like 50 - 60 % of them would fight for the people. Too many soldiers still think the Government rocks.

Um i think if your that unhappy you should be trying to peacfully inspire a vote not take up arms that would be killing my country men and i am not willing to do that. The Government is a Civilian responsibility even the highest levels of the Military are held by Civilians. If your asking if we will roll Bradleys into the Whitehouse I'm going to have to tell you its not likely.

Nice, you people complain relentlessly about the war on terrorism, that it is an illegal war, and now you are discussing a civil war in America.

My husband is in the military and he would not fight against the government.

The primary allegiance of the US military is to the US Constitution. They will fight anybody who attempts political change in a manner not approved by the US Constitution.

Try reading the declaration of independence as for meaningful reasons to rebel against a legal government. Use that as your yardstick. Our constitution has not been violated--is why we have a Supreme Court and why Presidents and congress adhere to their decisions. Do not mistake the fact that it sounds like you don't care for what the majority of our elected officials do with reasons for an insurrection. What you are suggesting is like saying if you don't like what you dad told you you have to do--you blow him away. You can always talk to him or leave you know>

Why would anybody have any logical reason to rebel against our government? If you don't like the course its taking there are avenues to which you may alter the direction of the country by participating in the electoral process.

We have a great country a our constitution is the most people friendly and amenable. So don't whine. Get off your butt and work to make things better.
