I am very athletic, I have a lot of endurance, I want to do a job that not only involves mental ability , but physical ability as well. I love the water but don't want to live on it for long periods of time. I have no idea what I want to do career wise ;however, the military has so many job and career opportunities. I was curious to which branch is best suited for me, and why, and if you believe the military would be good for me?

The law of land warfare clearing makes killing unarmed civilians a war crime. It further makes the conduct of combat without a uniform an illegal combatant that can be executed as a spy. In no way, does the law of land warfare indicate a POW is entitled to a trial.

Instead, we put terroristic criminals in a tropical jail cell, feed them 3 square halal meals a day and give them all the items they need to perform their religion. We treat them as well as any POW ever has been treated, though they could be rightfully executed under the law.

NOW, lets look at how they treat hostages they call POWs:
BAGHDAD - Insurgents linked to al-Qaida issued a video Monday claiming they killed all three U.S. soldiers captured in an ambush last month. "They were alive and then dead," a voice said during a sequence of images that included the military IDs of two Americans still missing.

Life in a Guantanamo jail cell is probably better than they've ever had. How do they deserve more?

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - U.S.-led soldiers control only about a third of Baghdad, the military said on Monday, almost four months into a security crackdown during which troops are dying at rates not seen for more than two years.

More than 18,000 extra U.S. troops have been deployed around Baghdad as part of the campaign, which began in mid-February and is seen as a last-ditch attempt to drag Iraq back from the brink of all-out sectarian civil war.

The New York Times reported earlier on Monday that, according to an internal military assessment and local commanders, U.S. and Iraqi troops controlled 146 of Baghdad's 457 neighborhoods.

The New York Times said that, according to the one-page military assessment of the crackdown, troops had either not begun operations or still faced resistance in the capital's remaining 311 neighborhoods.

Bush won a bruising battle with a Congress for war funding but is under growing pressure, including from within his own Republican Party, to show progress in the unpopular war or start bringing troops home.

June is showing similar casualty rates to May, with 17 U.S. soldiers killed in the first three days, 14 of them reported on Sunday.

May was the third-worst month for U.S. soldiers since the invasion to topple Saddam in March 2003. The worst months were November 2004, when 137 were killed, and April the same year when another 135 died.

Tens of thousands of Iraqis have been killed in the same period. While there was a significant reduction in the number of targeted sectarian killings early on in the security crackdown, those numbers have risen again, with dozens of bodies being found in Baghdad almost every day.

With recruiters strugging to meet their quotas, and the DoD lowering entrance requirements to accept a higher percentage of high school drop outs, is'nt it time that more rich white American republicans volunteer their kids to fight the war which they support so much?
Republicans continually lower standards for military service while increasing demands on units worldwide. With the highest number of casualties since vietnam, and the primary victims being poor, minorities and national guard troops, who don't more rich white children join to fight so we can avoid this "secret" draft. More discharged soldiers and sailors are being recalled to duty than ever before, and all at the price of an illegal war for corporate profit.

Dear Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, National Guard,
Reservists, in Iraq , in the Middle East theater, in Afghanistan , in
the area near Afghanistan , in any base anywhere in the world, and your
famil ies:
Let me tell you about why you guys own about 90 percent of the
backbone in the whole world right now and should be happy with
yourselves and proud of whom you are.
It was a dazzlingly hot day here in Rancho Mirage today. I did
small errands like going to the bank to pay my mortgage, finding a new
bed at a price I can afford, practicing driving with my new 5 wood,
paying bills for about two hours. I spoke for a long time to a woman
who is going through a nasty child custody fight I got e-mails from a
woman who was fired today from her job for not paying attention. I
read about multi-billion- dollar mergers in Europe, Asia , and the
Mideast . I noticed how overweight I am, for the millionth time. In
other words, I did a lot of nothing.
Like every other American who is not in the armed forces family,
I basically just rearranged the deck chairs on the Titanic in my
trivial, self-important, meaningless way.
Above all, I talked to a friend of more than forty-three years
who told me he thought his life had no meaning because all he did was
count his money. And, friends in the armed forces, this is the story
of all of America today. We are doing nothing but treading water while
you guys carry on the life or death struggle against worldwide
militant Islamic terrorism. Our lives are about nothing: paying bills,
going to humdrum jobs, waiting until we can go to sleep and then do it
all again. Our most vivid issues are trivia compared with what you do
every day, every minute, every second.
Oprah Winfrey talks a lot about "meaning" in life For her,
"meaning" is dieting and then having her photo on the cover of her
magazine every single month (surely a new world record for egomania).
This is not "meaning."
Meaning is doing for others.
Meaning is risking your life for hers
Meaning is putting your bodies and families' peace of mind on the
line to defeat some of the most evil, sick killers the world has ever
known.
Meaning is leaving the comfort of home to fight to make sure that
there still will be a home for your family and for your nation and for
free men and women everywhere.
Look, soldiers and Marines and sailors and airmen and Coast
Guardsmen, there are six billion people in this world. The whole fate
of this world turns on what you people, 1.4 million, more or less, do
every day. The fate of mankind depends on what about 2/100 of one
percent of the people in this world do every day and you are those
people. And joining you is every policeman, fireman, and Emergency
Medical Technician in the country, also holding back the tide of chaos.
Do you know how important you are? Do you know how indispensable
you are? Do you know how humbly grateful any of us who has a head on
his shoulders is to you? Do you know that if you never do another
thing in your lives, you will always still be heroes? That we could
live without Hollywood or Wall Street or the NFL, but we cannot live
for a week without you?
We are on our knees to you and we bless and pray for you every
moment.
And Oprah Winfrey, if she were a size two, would not have one
millionth of your importance, and all of the Wall Street billionaires
will never mean what the least of you do, and if Barry Bonds hits
hundreds of home runs it would not mean as much as you going on one
patrol or driving one truck to the Baghdad airport.
You are everything to us, as we go through our little days, and
you are in the prayers of the nation and of every decent man and woman
on the planet. That's who you are and what you mean. I hope you know that.
Love,
Ben Stein
