Probably. It is generally achnowledged that the British 'line' infantry are very similar to the US marines. With regards to experience, the only army that could rival the British is the israeli, which is still relatively new and heavily specialised. In comparison, the US army is among the least experienced of any army of major world powers today. With regards to equipment the US have by far the best and it is obvious their country care for them (specialised hospitals and unrivaled support for their wounded ect). The US have a very different training ethos to the British. It is often claimed that the US system, whilst having its positive attributes such as the installation of intense zeal, sometimes stifles the use of initiative due to micro management at higher levels. The US Army is without a doubt the more powerful as it has a much greater number of troops with better equipment- although the British equipment has improved drastically recently. Ironically, the luxury the British Army has is it's size. It can afford to spend time and effort on training its personel. Its special forces are achnowledged worldwide as the best in the world and infact initially trained the best in the US, 1st SFOD-D (delta force). There is little doubt the standards to which the British Army trains its personel are the standards which every military sets its training by.

Yes it does.
The British Army revolves around instilling a high level of disciple and self respect within its personnel. Contrasted against all other armed forces the British Forces are in addition to this down to earth, they do not go 'tear-arsing' around the world making illegal interventions and causing trouble on the global platform.
They are much more highly trained than the US. Take a look at the special forces. Delta Force et al, are ALL based up the British Special Air Service. The US marines are based up the British marines. The techniques of modern warfare are drawn from British military practises. The list goes on....
The US forces instill the importance of being 'Macho' side of the army and the 'John Wayne' techniques of warfare. Take a look at Vietnam, a complete joke of military training, the US military fell on its backside due to over saturation of the theatre of combat with ill trained draftees. A decade earlier the British were in the same region, in Burma, and were successful with fewer troops, and essentially more highly trained.
Iraq today serves as an additional evidence to the superiority in the training methods of the British Army. Basra was fairly quiet due to the British Army's diplomacy and interaction with Iraqi local officials. What did the US army do in Baghdad?..they turned it into a mini police state. Is that the logical way to enforce confidence in one's armed forces?
At the end of the day the British Army is not just the best trained force in the world, but it seems at this moment in time that it is the only force that possess the logic to approach military situations in a prudent manner. I wonder if the American (and other armed forces) can do this?

The UK has the SAS which are the top of the line fighting force in the world. But as far as line grunts I think the US is a little bit on top because of our training methods. Using friendly fire to gage anything is meaningless. I don't know the numbers but you would have to look at blue on blue incidents per 1000 troops in theater. And I am not sure how that would break out. The US has also long been an advocate of close air and indirect fire support and you pay a price for that.
As far as war crimes no country has a monopoly on that sad to say.

Great Britain certainly does have a formidable armed forces, perhaps the best or close to the best ! I believe, what I find frightening is these N.Korean propaganda films, showing the best of the best as far as they're concerned. These guys think they're superman, but I will bet they drop just as fast when hit with a 30 cal. round right between the running lights !
These guys are a cross between Bruce Lee and Spiderman, but as I said, these are propaganda flicks, designed to scare the crap out of their adversaries !

I believe that we have one of the best trained military forces in the world, the difference between us and the US is they can through Billions of dollars at it, and uk has a population of mabe one of the US States, so they can through numbers at it.
But, ask yourself this,
1. How many Blue on Blue actions have been atributed to the UK forces, and how many on US.
2. The US forces in Iraq 1 & 2, killed more UK troops in Blue on Blue, than the Iragies ever did.
3. How many US soldiers have been court Marshalled and convicted of brutality in Iraq.
They are nothing but Gungho charlies...shout first and ask questions Later. Trigger happy Gommer Piles.

Considering that many Navies around the world send their warships to the UK for Sea training, I guess our maritime training must be pretty well regarded.
