With recruiters strugging to meet their quotas, and the DoD lowering entrance requirements to accept a higher percentage of high school drop outs, is'nt it time that more rich white American republicans volunteer their kids to fight the war which they support so much?
Republicans continually lower standards for military service while increasing demands on units worldwide. With the highest number of casualties since vietnam, and the primary victims being poor, minorities and national guard troops, who don't more rich white children join to fight so we can avoid this "secret" draft. More discharged soldiers and sailors are being recalled to duty than ever before, and all at the price of an illegal war for corporate profit.

These people are right, if these soldiers want to leave their loved ones and children, if they want to leave their well paying jobs (in the case of national guard). If they want to leave their homes and their lives in exchange for Iraq, to fight for their God Bush, and if they choose to die fighting an unjust war rather than stand up for what's right let them
Let them die.
Anyone who chooses to fight for an evil cause has already lost their soul.
So who cares if they lose their body too? once their soul is gone, their physical form means nothing. Let them die.

The last time I looked joining the armed forces was a voluntary act by an individual within the US. No one can volunteer someone else. Also at this point in time anyone that enters the military can almost surly count on a tour in Iraq. So I think that the idea that we as a country are sending people is in error.
Yes you can make the argument that the poor and minorities are over represented in the military. But the military is an entry level job and that type of job has always attracted the poor and minorities.
I know that I was poor white trash when I enlisted at the age of 17 without a high school diploma. I look back with no regrets despite a wound. The military gave me a GED and enough money to go to collage to finish the training that I started as a medic and become an RN which has been very good to me.

I am sorry about your loss. Do not make his loss or memory into something bad. He enlisted (that is signed up for) the military. It was his choice, for whatever reason...whether it was for educational benefits or to just travel the world for free. When these young adults (I will refrain from using the word kid....as our soldiers are not children and deserve more respect than that), enlist they know the world climate and know what they are getting into, especially since 9-11, yet these young adults continue to enlist at even higher rates. I've heard that during the enlistment process the recruiters are actually able to tell the new recruits that they will probably be in Iraq or Afganistan within 16-18 months....and they still sign up. Your Tommy was defending America on foreign soil. He stopped that bullet from being shot here in our streets. He stopped that bullet from hitting an innocent US Citizen. He should be commended for his commitment, patriotism, and for his sacrifice. Nobody wants to see our soldiers killed, but many of you forget that people want to see our civilians, women, and children killed and slaughtered either. These are trying times for everyone and the world is not a safe place. Let's keep the wars overseas.

Another misinformed fool!! the Navy will not take you without a high school diploma, and the vast majority of the armed forces are not poor or minorities! I am white and upper middle class and I served four years in the service because I wanted to! people join the service to find themselves or to get away from limited opportunities in there home town, I joined because I had no Idea what I wanted to do after high school now I have a college degree and a good job all of that I credit to the Navy. By the way I am a proud Republican also, and if my son comes to me in twenty years and says he wants to join the service I will say very good and on your way, so the fact is that not all rich Republicans are against joining the service or letting there kids join.

The standard military enlistment for active servicemen is 2-3 years. We've been in Iraq for 4. Any active member of the Armed Forces that is in Iraq is there of their own choosing. They had the option of not re-enlisting, but they choose to take the bonus and tempt fate that they wouldn't be deployed.

As far as the reservists and guardsmen, I have a little pity for them, but not much. They also knew the risks when they signed for their current enlistment. Going to war is the primary responsibility of anyone who wears the uniform. We shouldn't have pity on those who are sent into harm's way to do the very thing they volunteered to do in the first place.

Any comment from anyone in the military regarding deployment anywhere in the world (not just in harm's way) is treasonous, insubordinate, and cowardly. The only thing required/expected/acceptable from these servicemen is, "Yes, sir."

They don't accept High School Drop-outs in the military. You have to have a H.S. diploma or GED to join. That is where you made your first mistake. None of the recruiters are struggling to make their quotas. Sorry, go troll somewhere else. And do some better research next time.

btw...most of the troops serving in Iraq are Republican.

Ain't that the truth! We got some so called 'born again' right wing Christians who have 2 military age brats, yet they sure aren't calling the recruiters! I made sure to call for them!

Oh, and I was in the army, btw and I joined because I love my country, but this war is so WRONG it makes me SICK that Jenna and Barbie and those richie rich congresspeople's kiddies aren't signing up. Sure the politicians will vote for this war, but they won't send their precious little brats!

Airman... yeah that is obviously a lie to start it all off. I this is brand new account too, did you get banned with a different one? Just curious. There is not one single sentence in your post that is accurate. And all you really want to do is state your warped opinion. So you have done that. And I have reported you as a non compliant poster. I hope others appreciate your efforts as much as I do and act accordingly.

Bush is THE MOST DUMBEST PRESIDENT that'll have been in office during my life time. War, what is it good for absolutely BUSH and his Oil Company PALS!
