...how is it that not one President in our 231 year history has never at least attempted to use it to overthrow the government and install himself as a dictator? Such action would obviously be completely unconstitutional, but if a President has thousands of heavily-armed soldiers backing him up, is there really anything that the few wimpy politicians in Congress could do about it? Or are the Supreme Court justices going to condemn him if there are a sea of tanks encircling the Court house? And a rogue president like this could ensure obedience from his generals by promising them well-paid positions after the coup is over with. I'm certainly not advocating it, but it just seems like it would be so EASY to pull off. Why is it that we have never had a crazy, power-hungry President try this?

My late uncle, Dale James Morgan ( U.S. Army), recieved a Bronze Star presented by a general, in the field, in the Phillippines in WWII. I've been trying to find war records regarding him to no avail.
Any information anyone can provide me with regarding Mr. Morgan's service would be greatly appreciated.
In everyone's life they meet a great number of men, and a far lesser number of Great Men.
Mr. Morgan was one of those Great Men.

I am not too familiar with the President's powers when it comes to the military, so please enlighten me. How much direct control over the military does the President have at any given time? I know that he holds the supreme title of "Commander-in-Chief", but I can't figure out what that actually means authority-wise. Let's say that the President was to issue orders to the army which are unconstitutional. Is the military bound to follow him, or can they actually defy him and refuse to carry out the orders?

I keep seeing "bonus". How does it work?
The only one I am familiar with is re-up bonus . It could be substantial., depending on MOS, but a bonus just for enlisting, ( non prior service) is there such a thing?

I'm in Marine ROTC at my university and I really need to get my run times down. I have trouble running to begin with and I have very mild athsma. I run about a 24 min. 3 mile now and I really need to get it under 20 minutes ( preferably around 19) by the time I go back to school in mid- August. Does anyone have any tips, suggestions, or workout routines that have worked for them to drop run times quickly and effectively? I would appreciate anything that you could come up with.

at this time. So the only job I was able to sign up for was a 'construction electrician' which I really don't want to be. My recruiter convinced me that since my ship date is 6months from now more than likely a corpsman spot will open up and he can get me in. Is that really possible? If so what are my chances because I am a woman and they said it's easier for men to get corpsman than women.

I'm by no means a conspiracy theorist when it comes to 9/11 but there's one thing that I never got. That is why didn't we shoot down the third plane that hit the pentagon... apparently the plane was flying in restricted airspace for quite some time while it was doing its maneuver around the pentagon to hit the side it did. NEADS had to of been aware of it being off course at that point along with knowing we were under attack as two planes had previously hit both WTC towers. Also isn't the pentagon within a few minutes from several Air force bases we could have scrambled fighters from.

was this just a giant screw up on NEADS part?

I use 12 gauge semi automatic for my home protection, Whats a good ammo for it?
I have 2-3/4 00" buck in it now, Would that be good for takeing down an intruder? Or would be be a better idea to use slugs? Or steel shot?
Also me and my brother live together and he has a Smith and Wesson 40. cal loaded with hollow points. Which gun would take down an intruder faster? A 40. or a 12 gauge?

But you are not allowed to walk into a bar and have a beer in the Country you can die for.

If the Government says you are responseable enough to decide to join the Military and die for this country, why aren't you responseable enough to have a drink in that same country?
