Unfortunately, WWIII will be global suicide, therefore in answer to your question, as long as there's rational superpowers who believe in MAD, there will be no WW3. By definition, the next world war wil be nuclear, how could it not. In a nuclear war there will be no winner. In a nuclear world, the only true enemy is war itself.

The next World War will involve a nuclear exchange, how could it not if both sides believe no price for victory will be too high. In the first 30 minutes, nearly a billion people will have been vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion will die shortly thereafter from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.

Eventually the nuclear winter will spread to the southern hemisphere and all plant life will die. You ask what country would be victorious, you are asking when will we commit global suicide. My answer is it won't happen soon because the larger superpowers are more rational than the rump states in the middle east.

While we hear talk of a nuclear-Iran or a confrontation with NorKor, little is said about the 2 bulls in the glass shop. The arsenals of Russia and the US are enough to destroy a million Hiroshimas. But there are fewer than 3000 cities on the Earth with populations of 100,000 or more. You cannot find anything like a million Hiroshimas to obliterate. Prime military and industrial targets that are far from cities are comparatively rare. Our biggest threat is from an accidental launch by the Russians.

At the point of global suicide, it doesn't matter who is on what side....where you go to hide, or how long you can survive. In a nuclear age like i said before, the only true enemy is war itself.

This depends upon when you begin counting. If you want to go back to the wars that England and france fought with each other that spanned the globe, we could be in WW6 or so. If you want to begin with the conflict that began in 1914, we are now involved in World War IV. World War III would be considered a title for the Cold War as it was "fought" over the entire globe with a global collection of Allies. We are now involved in a world wide conflict against fascist Muslims so it would earn the title of "World War" due to its span of the entire planet.

We are fighting the terrorists in the USA, Germany, Spain, England, France, Israel, Iraq, Gaza-West Bank, India-Pakistan, Chechnya, other southern rim countries bordering Russia, China, Philippines, Thailand, Burma, Sudan, Egypt to name a few.

So to answer your question, yes, there "was" a World War III anda we won it. As to our victory in WW4, only time will tell but it will be a lot bloodier than it is now. Tthings are only beginning to ramp up. Wait until there are suicide bombings on American soil. The response of the American people will make the concentration camps of WW2 look tame. I am afraid that my fellow Americans will harken back to the frontier days when the "only good Indian was a dead Indian" and apply that philosophy to indigenous Muslims, shooting them on sight.

There is a joke going around that a Texan, a Muslim, and an Ameican Indian are seated in an airplane. The Indian turns to the Muslim and wails that "once my people were many but now we are few". The Muslim smiles and replies, "once my people were few but now we are many." The Texan raises his hat from over his eyes and observes that, " shore 'nuff but that is only 'cause we aint started playing Cowboys and Muslims yet!" I can see it happening as attacks in the U.S. cause mass hysteria and citizens respond in the only way they know to guarantee their and their family's safety. The philosophy would be "kill 'em all and let God sort them out." I can see it happening based upon a good overview of my fellow citizens' past history. Truly tragic in epic proportions and I hope I am wrong.

The war that is going on right now it will be world war 3. everybody wants to go to war right now countries either in or considering armed conflict are America, Australia, England, France,Israel,Iran,North Korea,South Korea India,China, Pakistan,Afghanistan, and the scariest thing Russia just got done threatening to point their nuke's at our European allies if we went ahead with our anti-ballistic missile defense system. because it would cover a portion of their country when implemented. Sounds world war like to me.
