Ask you C.O.

Your C.O. will have to sign off on the orders anyway, so if you want to get the orders talk to them.

Start with your First Sergant and work you way up...this is what Chain of Command is all about...

you will have to prove that there is no other family member available to help your mom out. Even if you ahve a brother that lives in CA and he hasn't spoken to his mom in ten years, the military could*(and probably would) say that he can pick up the slack.

typically, though , Compassionate reassignements are short term.. no more than 12 months, and are given when things are terminal. They also take into consideration things like can she be put in a nursing home, where she can be taken care of. PLUS, there has to be a need for your job skill in a nearby ,military installation.

in other words, It's quite difficult to get the orders approved. you may have to consider discharge to IRR.

Pretty slim chances, but go to legal and ask them.
