I was thinking of joining the military but I do not know if I will get paid in basic. My family depends on me for income so going to basic without pay will not work. Does anyone have advise?

YES, you do get paid while in basic. If you have a current bank account all you have to do is have them to help you sey-up a Direct Deposit Form so your checks go directly into that account,so your family then draw from that account while you are in basic training. As you may know already you will get paid either monthly or bi-monthly. Go bi-monthly. Get the basic $250,000 life ins. And be sure to have your wife or parent to be put onto your bank account via signature so they could with-draw to meet their bills and such.

yes, you get paid. Go to http://www.dfas.mil/militarypay/2006militarypaytables/2007_Web_Pay_Table.pdf

for a full paychart. If you look at note number 5 on this webpage, you'll see what you'll get paid as a trainee, meaning under 4 months service. Remember, this does not include taxes and allotments which will lower the total amount you get. Hope this helps.

Yes you will be paid through basic at whatever rank you go in as. I would advise having your own checking account and then a savings with one of your family members on it. When you report, you will go through a series of signing paperwork. make sure you bring all your banking information with you. Have direct deposit to your checking and an allotment set up for a set amount of money to go to the savings. It will all be automatic. This way, you will be giving your family money, but they will not be able to drain your account. You will need some funds for your toiletries and such.

I hope that your family will not allow themselves to be a burden to you for the rest of your life.

You get paid, but not much. Some branches offer a signing bonus, and that can help to get you through. I think my husband was making about $600 a month when he enlished in the air force, plus room, board, and medical insurance.

Yes, either the E-1,2, or 3 salary depending on a variety of factors. You also get minor subsistence (food) allowance and if married or with dependants should get a housing allowance AND separation pay.

Your family will see the pay as long as they have access to the account you have the military deposit the money in.

Yes you do. You get your first paycheck on the following 1st or 15th of the month (whichever comes first) after you start basic.

You do get paid but your family wont see an income until after you graduate.

Do you mean family as in spouse and kids or mom and dad and siblings?
