You can ask by submitting the proper form but they will probably turn you down.

A lot of it depends upon your career field. I can not see any way they are going to let an Army infantryman get off active duty early.

Also, if you took a sign on bonus for the four years, if they do let you go to the reserves, do not be surprised if they take the money back.

I suggest you make the best of it and do like you agreed to do.

From what I've seen you should have the option to sign up for three the spend the rest of the time in reserves.

I've been warned though. I've heard the reserves are used just as much as the army and national guard and are treated as individuals instead of as part of a unit.

So don't be decieved in thinking the reserves don't go to war. They can and they will.

They use to have Palace Chase (when means you're done with your active time and go reserve or guard -don't remember which-) BUT I dont' know if they do this anymore and even when they did it was very difficult to get approved.

not usually no. the active duty commitment is based on the training you got. they want their money's worth.

you MIGHT get permission if your current job is overmanned, or occasionally they offer early outs( 6 months) to attend college, but you must already be accepted into the school before you can request that.
