Russia developed what is called the "sizzler" missile which is able to be launched from submarines, bypass a naval carriers defenses and destroy the carrier itself. China has purchased some missiles and iran is able to purchase them too. Without the proper defenses the US navy seems to be at a huge disadvantage if war were to break out between china or russia...

I joined under a reserve program and my only active duty was Electronics school and boot camp. The remainder of my enlistment was reserve duty in Long Beach. I don't get VA benefits, but I am trying to get a civil service job and they add 10 points to my test score if I am a vet.

This was the big theme after 9/11. Now it seems like the vast majority of Americans have already put 9/11 in the history books and have moved on. Did I miss something?

Has our response been so great that we can pack up and come home? Or was "never forget" just a nice slogan?

There are reports which say that the British soliders being held captive by Iran have confessed to being in illegal Iranian waters, which probably means Iran was torturing them. If that came out, do yuo think England would attack Iran?

Just curious on your thoughts about this. I'm writing an article for a political magazine on this topic, and was curious as to what the greater population thoughts were. For those that may not know by the quote from Pres. Bush in his state of the union address in 2002, the 'axis of evil' countries are Iran, Iraq and North Korea. Obviously we are in Iraq now, but should we pursue the other three afore mentioned countries or stop the fighting all together?

Do they love having people serve them yet hold this disdain for the mostly lower-middle class troops that they champion?

We already know that many liberals associate military people with policies they despise, but there is also a deep-seated psychological hatred of those who we ask to do our dirty work, in my opinion. I think it's very real, exists across the board, and it's wrong.

Often in movies you see the military as almost a second government, almost independent from the main government branches. The question is, in real life, does the government have total control over its army and military, or does the military usually represent itself as a separate part of the goverment besides its branches?
