Listening to the guy the other day he seems real hawkish.

I served 20 years and I've been to Iraq 3 times, I listen to Rush occasionally. Just like Fox or any other conservative talk radio, nothing upsets a liberal more than facts and somebody that has an opposing view...

No, Rush didn't serve. I did though, 4 years U.S. Army. I love Rush, he speaks the truth and the libs can't stand him for it. There is a reason its an all volunteer military. You can choose to serve or not serve. Doesn't make Rush a bad person or American because he didn't serve.

That's a good question. In the book, "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot", Al Fraken wrote a hilarious chapter descibing what might have happened (in an alternative history) during the war had Olie North been in charge of these young men(now politicians or talk show hosts) hawks who had decided to fight in Viet Nam instead of avoiding the draft.

I find it ironic that Rush goes on and on to criticize actual war heros and describes how cowardly liberal war heros are when Limbaugh himself had to go through some real effort to avoid Viet Nam.

But my favorite part is when Franken's interview with the "the man who has the easiest job in America": That would be Rush Limbaugh's fact-checker because of course he can take vacations anytime he wants without anyone missing him.(I assume that Rush doesn't really bother with having a fact-checker since there are so many factual errors reported with confidence on his radio show.)

It appears that many radio and TV talk show hosts are not immune to making up stories when the run out of "facts." I think they still do it because they are still getting away with it. (I don't know how many times I've heard the same spin from Washington D. C. think tanks being used instead of reflective thought.)

The book is over 10 years old, but we keep hearing the same kind of nonsense through the media. A media that is more interested in self-preservation and money-making, than honest journalism.

Thank you for posting this very interesting question.

No Rush did not served in the military. His final selective service classification was 4-F.

Does it matter? Did you? I served 24 years and I like Rush

Neither Rush nor his father served in any branch of the military.

Both took physical deferments for a genetic spinal defect.

You'll have to do a google search for source results you can consider reliable.

Did you serve in the military? I did in the US Marines and I was and still am proud to serve my country.

The only kind of hawk he is is a chicken hawk. Rush Limbaugh, the ferociously bellicose radio personality, who allegedly had either "anal cysts" or an "ingrown hair follicle on his bottom.
