I had a debate in my class today about women fighting in wars. The girl across from me started getting in my face saying women can do whatever they want to in the military. Being quick tempered, I responded with a myriad of reasons why she was stupid to even think that and responded with some info off the top of my head. I believe that women are allowed to go on certain patrols and become pilots but they are not allowed to be in direct engagement with the enemy.

Ex. A woman can be a nurse, but, she can't be a medic to a unit that will be engaging the enemy. If anyone knows where I can find more info or the exact laws that prohibit this that would be great.

I just went to a lecture where one of England's own royals (Board member of multinationals, Yale, Cambridge... the list goes on and on) purposed that NATO gives Israel security guarantees to dismantel its nuclear asenal. Is NATO becoming a tool of Multinationals at American and Europes expense? Will this move just not provoke Russia?

If you are in Air Force inactive reserve, what are the exact commitments? How much training, can you can be called up to active duty, etc.

Extra Credit:
If I were to complete AFROTC, serve a four-year active duty commitment, and then have a four-year inactive reserve commitment, could I transfer that commitment to say, two years of active duty?

Looking at responses to other questions I have to ask if people really believe that China is that big a threat already? Their navy is a joke, the air force has only a hadful of modern fighters and they had to buy those. They have only just started to produce a tank even close to modern. They just started production of the J-10 and that is only comparable to an F-16 we started producing almost 30 years ago. They are making headway but please, someone explain to me, how they are a threat even within the next 10 years?

If our stupid Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff thinks that homosexuality is immoral and therefore gay soldiers must not serve, then what does he thinks about soldiers who committed adultery and were divorced? As we know, the Bible treats adultery and divorce just as harshly as homosexuality. Did this ever occur to our Clown in Chief?

He was asked for his personal opinion. He gave it!

Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff
9999 Joint Staff Pentagon
Washington, DC 20318-9999

General Pace,
I have to send you a word of encouragement that you might be able to stand firm in your convictions regarding homosexuality, particularly as it relates to our men and women in uniform.

Thank you! I am certain there are now people who seek to end your career after hearing of your bold stance. Thank you for being as courageous as any soldier in any battle to stand up and proclaim homosexuality for what it is, "immoral!"

May God guide you in this matter fully, holding you firm in your convictions. And as for the rest of us who believe in your proclamation, we will hold you up in our prayers.

Take courage and do not waiver your claim and I believe fully that the Lord God Almighty will reward your great sacrifice.

God bless you and keep you and your family in this time of great struggle.

Sincerely,

I just heard an interesting speech made by a Mr. Doug Rokke, Vietnam and Gulf war 1 veteran and the U.S. Armies expert on depleted uranium munitions. What he says he's dealing with and has dealt with is atrocious. If you go to this site you can download the Mp3 of his speech, and two other experts in the field. (Theres a transcript on this page, but its very poorly transcribed.) http://www.mindfully.org/Nucs/2003/Rokke-Depleted-Uranium-DU21apr03.htm
Please, read or listen to this information and give me your opinion here. It's mostly about the gulf war, but he connects at areas to the current one. Would you find this believeable and a just assessment of whats happened and is happening? Also, theres another website thats rather anti-military (I don't condone anti-us-militarism) but has some rather disturbing images where children have been affected by the depleted uranium we have left all over the cities and villages of Iraq. http://www.mindfully.org/Nucs/2003/DU-Baby2003.htm
