Iraq should pay because of why? Because we wanted to take over their country?
Iraq is at present exporting over 2.5 million barrells a day but at royalty returnsd to Iraq set at old % of pre 1990 days.
Money goes to Iraq natinal bank, a fund run by citcorp, Morgan Stanley the German and other euro banks.
In fact until just rec4ntly it was not even monitored so the only people who kenw exactly how much was outgoing was this bank and jnot the Iraqui oil ministry. Even today the oil ministry depends upon US to tell them how much.
Anyone who thinks Iraq invasion had nothing to do with control over its oil is either blind or trying to decieve others.
I sugget one read Greg Palast articles and even go to the Oil inustry on line sites and read why control of Iraqui oil was necessary.
From Eisenhowerrs day ME oil was deemed to be controlled.
Teh control of oil is the key not that today they cold be pumping bilions more barells a month and watch prices fal.
Most of Iraqui oil is going out back door not to mediteranian sea. the oil fields under the Kurd control are being sold off monthly with the money going to Kurdistan, not Iraq ministry.
In days of oil for food the US and Japan were the major buyers of that oil.
Oil is the ost controlled commodity on earth. Production levelas are balanced almost on a daily level. Daily!
No other comodity can control its quatnity anywheres near oil industry standards.

If you bought gas for your car in the last 5 years,it has.Where do you think the money for the bullets comes from? The army doesn't make money. Why would the Iraqis give anybody oil to come over and oppress them. That would be like hiring someone to come over and trash your house, kick your dog and call you an idiot for believing what you do.If that sound good send me an e-mail, I'll do it for a lot cheaper that my most prominent competition.

Half the world thinks we are there to take the oil as it is. Can you imagine the wailing if we actually did take some to pay for the war? Besides, the Iraqis need every dime to stabilize their country (assuming Congress quits trying to tie our troops' hands). Dems in Congress go on and on about avoiding another Vietnam and that is exactly what they are going to produce. Idiots!

In our effort to do the "shock and awe" to impress the masses at home, we destroyed critical infrastructure. Then in the effort to get the pipelines up and running, you have some of the biggest crooks in charge, KBR, Bechtel, Halliburton. Now, where pipelines existed, they have come under constant attack by insurgents. Suffice it to say, they pipelines are only producing about 40% of their pre-war capacity
So much for the "iraqi oil "paying for the war as had been declared by Donald Rumsfeld and the rest of the cabal.

Because the country is not politically stable enough to support the economy and infrastructure necessary to harvest it.

I think many of them are still in disrepair and can't be repaired because of the unrest. It should once we get the situation settled.
