I have worked for Gen Pace in the past and he should absolutely not resign. None of the people listed in Yahoo Answers can say this. In fact, none of the writers have even MET Gen Pace, much les worked for him. He is a very couragous man who spoke his opinion. Last I looked, we in America have the right to speak our minds. This isn't China, or the Middle East, we can speak out when asked our opinion. The fact is, Gen Pace has deep convictions about this topic and he spoke from his heart. He also said that his upbringing had to do with his opinion. The military isn't disgraced by the senior General in the establishment offering his opinion. The military is more disgraced by a crazy married Astronaut ON LOAN to NASA driving 900 miles, wearing a diaper on a crazy trek to assault the woman of her boyfriend. The military is disgraced by senior officials letting our troops fester in squalor at Walter Reed and not doing anything to fix the problem, but definitely not by Gen Pace's remarks.

General Pace has in no way, shape, or form "disgraced" the military. He voiced his opinion, to which he is entitled, and has no reason to resign.

I applaud his courage to stick to his guns and NOT apologize or resign.

I admire him for having the cajones to say it in the first place, because what he said is right on the money.

No, he should receive another Legion of Merit, finally someone who has to courage to speak his mind (and I don't necessarily agree with him). He was stating his opinion, and he did not say that Clinton's, "Don't ask, don't tell" policy should be rescinded, he just stated that he does not want to hear about other peoples sexual activity (including adultery). Remember that (female) Air Force Captain, B-52 pilot who was discharged for having sex with an married man? I bet she would still be in if she were a bit more discrete. As for being openly gay in a military unit, I can see how it might affect morale if it were out in the open and there is no reason I need to know another person's sexual practices.

Someone please tell me when being homosexual was considered being part of a new "race" of people. People are acting like he made racial slurs. He voiced his opinion. In this case, his opinion is true. A fag is a fag...as simple as that. There is nothing racial or inapropriate about it. And this man didn't even use the term fag. I just did. I have every right to dislike homosexuals. It's not normal. It IS immoral. That does not make me a "racist", and why is being "homophobic" terms for therapy? What in the world has this counrty become?

He was asked for his personal opinion on the matter. He was courteous and courageous enough to answer the question truthfully and not side step it the way most politicians and those in leadership manage to do.

I respect him greatly!

A person may not agree with his personal opinion, but you have to have great respect for a man that isn't afraid to voice his opinion knowing full well it will result in a backlash.

General Pace has fought and served in several wars. HE HAS MORE THAN EARNED HIS FREEDOM TO EXPRESS HIS PERSONAL OPINION.

No, he has not disgraced the military either. The media has taken his comments out of context too. He said that homosexual activity is as immoral as adultery. That is nothing to resign over.

Well, no...Its not Illegal what he said, just a big major FROWNED UPON :(

Resign? That is harsh. Its not a proud day for the military though.

Apologize, YES! But it would not be sincere.

I really wonder WHY did he say this now? As you are aware, he isn't discussing the party he votes for, his own marriage or lack-there-of, or even his super bowl pick. This was extremely inappropriate.

Apologize....NO

Resign.......NO

Disgraced the military? Let's see, he was asked for his opinion; he gave it. Now the people he spoke about don't like his answer, so he has disgraced the military? Wrong.
