I want to know if someone is making up stories about being in the marines...so here goes
Is there a marines station in Iran?
Can a marine make $80000 a year?
Can someone become an officer without a college degree?
And if you go AWOL because you didn't like it or for whatever reason, what happens? AND if you really are an officer, then what would happen if you did that?

thanks a lot

Once again I feel I have done nothing wrong! Shouldn't Yahoo Answers at least READ what was said BEFORE implimenting disciplinary actions? This is becoming tiresome. There are many on the program who report anything that they don't agree with. Something should be done to end this behavior. It's not the points...it's the principle. I have enjoyed my time here but I am growing weary of the ones who are censoring harmless comments. Your help will be most appreciated.

Once I graduate from college I want to become a marine officer, what is it like in the corps? How does being a marine change a person? People have described the rush of marine life as addicting, do must marines stay in the corps or leave? As a young man who wants to become more responsible and grow overall as a person, how will the marines allow me to achieve that goal?

Enlisted or Officer types can play along.

Answer the following question...
"If I could change one thing about my Military career I would have________."

For example:

Gone to OCS/Academy or Mustang over.

Change my M.O.S. or Rate or Designator.

Been a lifer.

Changed Branches.

Got some College credits first so I could have been advanced faster.

Got out earlier.

Never went in at all.

I served in the US Navy from 1982 - 1986 . However when it comes to certain entitlements and veterans preference (for jobs or otherwise) , I am not eligible for many of these . There is a period from after Vietnam in 1975 to the Gulf War 1991, that people are not given veterans status . This would include men who were in Beruit, Grenada , Gitmo , 38th parrallel, Berlin Wall or anywhere else where men were deployed in service to this country . Although this was a time of relative peace , a presence was always required in other parts of the world . There was as much risk of a breakout of any kind of hostilities ,as there was prior to the break out of The Gulf war . It was also the buildup of the US military at this time , that created a arms race with the Soviets , that brought about thier demise . I am of the opinion , that because of the sheer numbers of men that served during this time . The policy of this government is to save money by denying these men entitlements they r owed

If you have been in the US Military you will know what I am talking about...

When you spot a Military guy out and about, perhaps it someone you know, and they are wearing Bates or Corafram style shoes as part of their civilian dress attire, do you think it is funny looking?

Do you think they ought to just leave them off and buy a real pair of dress shoes, or do you think they are being smart by using them like that when not in uniform?

BTW...I've been guilty of doing this myself a couple of times and having Military friends kid me about doing this.

4 years active 2 years reserve would be acceptable! We need a build-up to keep pace with China & Russia! We should set goal numbers of 4 to 5 million trained and ready troops! Mommy & Daddy want you self-sufficient before the age of 40 show me the ready & willing.

Then why are people so certain that all of our soldiers are proud to fight for this country and have no regrets about what they do. A guy wanted to kill himself because he was being sent back to the war( Not to say that all ppl think this way) It's a story on WJZ. It just seems that every person that I had an argument with about the war seems to think that the soldiers are all proud of what they are doing and fighting for. I beg to differ. This news story just proved my point. And before you disagree with me read the article!!!!!
