a good friend of mine is over there now and over the past couple of weeks he's really shut down. i knew it was going to happen because he's been in baghdad for 8 months, without even having 2 weeks leave to come home yet. everything is catching up to him and he's really withdrawing. is there anything i can do to help him out? he used to say that talking to me gave him a break from thinking about it, but now he will go days without talking to anyone(even though he's around). i try and do things like leave him funny jokes on myspace to make him laugh but i've never seen him this bad before. he says eventually he will come back around but he's just not sure when because he's dealing with things he has to come to terms with on his own someday. i'm pretty worried..what can i do? if anything?

everybody forgets that it's hard for the people left behind too..

It is not the U.S. military that kidnaps bus loads of prospective Iraqi police officers or soldiers.

It is not the U.S. military that sends cars, trucks, or vans loaded with bombs into crowded markets.

It is not the U.S. military that kidnaps whole office buildings of Iraqi citizens who are mutalated and thrown throughout the country.

It is not the U.S. military that shoots down entire tennis teams because of they are wearing shorts.

The majority of the violence in Iraq is not even against the U.S. troops. So, why are they being blamed for the deaths?

And don't give me any BS about no one dying before the war began, because that is a lie. If the various religious sects would just stop killing each other, the U.S. would leave.

18 years and the Spousey one don't care to know or has much of a clue, never acted very interested in what I did when I was AD either, seemed more interested in my pay periods than anything else!
So would that bother you? Seems to really eat at me though, and yes I've mentioned it to no avail.
Am I so wrong to assume your Spouse should care, or at least act like they are interested in what you do, what your MOS is, what your proper title is in uniform, what is your Paygrade, etc etc?

After several years of talking, I stopped and asked some questions...then I realized that Spouse never listened.

I dunno...seems like my relationship really sucks since this still haunts me 5 years later and nothing else seems to be working either.
The Military was (and is) still very important to me. I'm not one of those types that pretends that I was never on AD, or relive it 24/7/365 like the stereotypical HS Football Jock, it's just something I'm proud of being a part of. Am I wrong?

it was in 1993 the painful history of somalia when american troops fought against somali civilian.the president of USA at that time was the father of the current president.before that time there were no any hostility between somalia and US. when bilclinton become president he dropped out the troops from somalia..cos he was a real politician..but just in six months most of the south become peaceful then ethiopia invaded backing by US government. ethiopia and somalia are know together and in 1977 is in every ethiopian person..i think bush and his father come to president to make enemy rather to make friend. many people thought that bush and his father have a hostility to the somali people.. i know that thousands of people live in the US specially minnesota. where does this hostility came from?
