Then why are people so certain that all of our soldiers are proud to fight for this country and have no regrets about what they do. A guy wanted to kill himself because he was being sent back to the war( Not to say that all ppl think this way) It's a story on WJZ. It just seems that every person that I had an argument with about the war seems to think that the soldiers are all proud of what they are doing and fighting for. I beg to differ. This news story just proved my point. And before you disagree with me read the article!!!!!

I didn't say most soldiers don't agree with the war. Do some people ever read the question for what it is and stop assuming what I meant? I'm simply stating that every person I argued with about the war says "How dare you say we are wrong, the president knows what he is doing, the soldiers are proud of what they are doing" My point is just that. Not ALL soldier are proud of what they are doing

Like that one documentary (I forgot the name, farenheit 911 or something) proved...Why aren't any children of the Congress in the army? They know it is not a good decision. Many enrolled are poor, needing some help with their higher education...others are those who don't have much choices in what to do with their life...these are the first the government wants killed...they don't care!! It is soo sad that this is a selfish act from Bush...I don't think he cares the tiniest bit for the "terrorist safe world" he proclaims to be looking for...it's all about the money, if you ask me. I'd feel safer if he wouldn't mess with other countries at all.

There may be a few that do actually believe in patriotism, saving the US blah,blah...but these are definitely not the majority. Some may say so, but I think they have been "brainwashed" to believe they chose well.

How can you justify using generalalites and call it fact?
Some people hate school so much they kill themself, does that mean everyone in school doesn't believe in education?

I might give you this, except for the fact that all the military that enlisted before 9/11 have now finished their enlistment and either got out or re-upped. So people who enlist now, know they are going into war. The guy is the news story knew, he made his choice, and then figured out he couldn't handle it. It's sad, but to put in the context that that means most of our military does not believe in what they are doing is proposterous.
I have a son who has been there twice and may be going back soon. Does he want t go back? Hell no, but he DOES believe in what he is doing and so do the people he serves with.

Sounds like you need to consider that those people you are arguing with may have actually talked to soldiers.

Do you really think that your political opinions mean that you can tell soldiers what we think?

Hint: Most people who have served in Iraq do feel that we are winning and doing the 'right' thing.

Most people don't realize this but the majority of people in the military at the time of 911 were only there to get an education or have a job. None of them ever expected to actually kill anyone.

Oohla your logic makes no sense I will try this one out on you. They say all blacks vote democrat. Obviously that can't be true because I and about 10% of other blacks don't, so what have we learn, it is a general statement.
Just like in Iraq not a100% of the soldiers are going to agree with what is going on. I feel silly,It is like explaining to a 7 year old.

Its just plain stupid to kill yourself. I mean what is the point? To get attention? Isn't the reason no one wants to be in a war because they are afraid to die? Why kill yourself? This is just one case. People who aren't in the military commit suicide all the time.

Soldiers are not machines; they are human like us and have their limits.
