Area 51 has been a constant source of conspiracy theories since the 1950s. No one actually knows what goes on behind this heavily guarded area of land except the people who work there. Speculation is rife with theories covering everything from Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) to secret government aircraft manufacturing.

Area 51 is located in a remote area of the Nevada desert, north of Las Vegas. Area 51 is a top-secret military test and development facility, operated by the US Air Force. It is located within the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR), 85 miles north of Las Vegas. It is operated as Detachment 3 of the Air Force Flight Test Center, headquartered at Edwards Air Force Base in California. The official explanation given by the military is that it is a firing range used by the air force. It has a restricted “no fly zone” placed on it and is very heavily guarded. The perimeter fence is monitored by hundreds of close circuit television cameras. Armed guards patrol the area and signs warn that trespassers will be shot.

Except for the people who work in area 51, virtually no one has ever been inside. Photographs exist showing a large airbase that is not marked on any map. One of the most popular theories as to what goes on behind the fence is that of the UFO.

Area 51 was founded in 1955 to test the newly developed U-2 "spy plane". Since then the base was constantly expanded, and used for various Black Project developments including the A-12 "Blackbird", the F-117 Stealth Fighter and the B-2 Stealth Bomber. More recent projects include research on Stealth Technology, various unmanned reconnaissance and combat aircraft (UAVs and UCAVs) and possibly a rumored high speed high altitude platform known as "Aurora". In the 1950s, a UFO supposedly crashed in the Roswell area. The craft and its inhabitants were taken to area 51 to be examined. Theorists say that the government is trying to replicate the technology used by the UFO or even trying to rework the UFO back to flight status. These theories have done much for tourism in the area. There are even highway signs that read, “Extraterrestrial Highway”.

Another major theory is that area 51 simulates the environment of the moon. It has been suggested that the whole of the Apollo moon landing in 1969 actually took place in area 51 due to its similarity to the moon. One of the most popular theories is that this is where the military carries out top-secret aircraft testing. The aircraft supposedly tested there are known as Black aircraft, and the idea is to keep their existence a secret for as long as possible. This includes keeping their existence hidden from the enemy and the public.

Area 51 has become embedded in US popular culture. Books, films, websites and computer games have all used this tiny area and the many theories and reasons behind its secrecy for entertainment. Whatever is going on behind the fence has been kept hidden for over 50 years, and we seem to be no closer to finding out area 51’s secret.

Area 51 (currently known as Air Force Flight Test Center, Detachment 3 and also known as Dreamland, Watertown Strip, Paradise Ranch, The Box, Groom Lake) is a remote tract of land in southern Nevada, owned by the United States Air Force, containing an airfield whose primary purpose is believed to be the secret development and testing of new military aircraft. It is famed as the subject of many UFO conspiracy theories.
Area 51 shares a border with the Yucca Flats region of the Nevada Test Site (NTS), the location of many of the U.S. Department of Energy's nuclear weapons tests. The Yucca Mountain nuclear storage facility is approximately 40 miles (64km) southwest of Groom Lake.

The designation "Area 51" is somewhat contentious, appearing on older maps of the NTS but not newer ones, but the same naming scheme is used for other parts of the Nevada Test Site.

The area is connected to the internal NTS road network, with paved roads leading both to Mercury, to the northwest, and west to Yucca Flats. Leading northeast from the lake, Groom Lake Road (a wide, well-conditioned dirt road) runs through a pass in the Jumbled Hills. Groom Lake Road was formerly the track leading to mines in the Groom basin, but has been improved since their closure. Its winding course takes it past a security checkpoint, but the restricted area around the base extends further east than this (unauthorized visitors who travel west on Groom Lake Road are usually observed first by guards located on the hills surrounding the pass, still several miles from the checkpoint). After leaving the restricted area (marked by numerous warning signs stating that "photography is prohibited" and that "use of deadly force is authorized" under the terms of the 1950 McCarran Internal Security Act) Groom Lake Road descends eastward to the floor of the Tikaboo Valley, passing the dirt-road entrances to several small ranches, before joining with Nevada State Route 375, the "Extraterrestrial Highway", south of Rachel

Hasn't it ever occurred to anyone that they are not suppose to know what is at Aria 51???? (I wonder if there could be a reason for that)
Here is a forty year old pic taken at Aria 51, maybe it will give you some idea WHY you are not suppose to know.

Groom Lake AFB, supposedly there's UFOs and aliens out there, along with who knows what government secret ops. They're probably making futuristic aircraft and testing them out, and just put out the UFO BS as a cover story to obfuscate and confuse anyone who asks. Google "strange loops", it'll make a bit more sense after that.

FACT: It is a military installation where all our most advanced aircraft since WW2 has been developed, tested, and kept.

THEORY: Some of this aircraft is the result of research on crashed alien spacecraft stored there, along with some dead alien entities.
