not enlisted at all, it was the worst experiance of my life. Props to those who succeed under those conditions, and much respect to those who still serve, but it just wasn't my scene. But I finished my obligation to the military......I am a man of my word, I said I would so I did

Realized that I didn't have to work as hard and have more fun. We did so many cool things: the rifle range, obstacle courses, etc we also got the chance to work out every day. The paperwork won't change anyone's life. I wish I would have paid less attention to the paperwork and more to the fun things.
(Enlisted 3 years/ Officer 10 years)

Kept a diary! [I had a great time for most of it... if I'd kept notes, I'd be writing my book right now! I mean, what other job takes you to Singapore and Bahrain, Australia and Hong Kong, Okinawa and New Zealand, Guam and Korea? I worked with great people, went to wonderful places, got trained as a Master Diver (not bad, for a chaplain!)... I just wish I remembered it all better.

Enlisted as Regular instead of Ready Reserve for my first enlistment. My pay wouldn't have been screwed up. (Didn't get my first check until after graduation). I could have gone OCS (instead of we want to offer.. but your a reserve and we can't give...)
Or
Re-enlisted in '88.
I got divorced anyway....

there are so many........
If I could change something, I would have:
-chosen a medical job so I could get out and make a 6-7 figure income as a civilian
-joined sooner
-gone in as an officer ( to be a pilot)
-been a Marine (only if I wasn't married)

I would have joined earlier. I dorked around as a civilian for four years after college before I joined the USAF. I consider those four years wasted. I should have joined right after college.

Been a lifer! I regret not staying in the Corps for 30 years. I probably would have sought out a commission had I stayed in.

Never joined at all.
Two tours in Iraq and a broken marriage later, I see it as the worst mistake I ever made.
