Hi, well I am 21 years old and my fiance is 19. He is currently away in Missouri for his army basic training. We have been dating for 11 months and have basically been inseperable. He graduates Nov. 9 and I live in North Carolina but I'm gonna try and fly out there. What I wanna know is, are any of you of how have you dealt with your significant other being away from you? I am sad cause he's not around, but I am happy thinking of him, and getting letters, and getting his call. What do u ladies do, to not feel so sad? Please answer only if you have a military spouse please!!

how short to cut my hair for the military or if i have to cut it at all. it's down my back. not to my waist though. well past my shoulders. i was thinking if i french braided it and pulled up the tail of it and tucked it in it might do. just wondering what other ladies did. (i really don't want to do a G.I. jane here. very few women can get away with bald without looking too butch, i probably wouldn't though and to avoid any misunderstanding.........lol)

In Iraq we are fighing for the future of civilizatation as we know it.
If we lose, we are hosed big time. Losing is not an option.
Yes, no one likes this war, but it must be waged and the terrorists MUST be defeated at this place, at this time.
If not, the ramificatitions will reverberate throughout our western societies for generations to come.
If we lose in Iraq ,we will just have to fight another war even closer ,maybe on our soil, with an emboldened enemy that can slowly strangle us.
Wake up and understand this, hippies.
You have allowed your hatred of Bush to cloud your judgement and vision.
The terrorists are not going away.
They are throwing everything they have at us in Iraq, because they know THIS IS THE BATTLE.
If they lose in Iraq , they are done.,and they know that.
It's either us or them.

In light of the recent deaths of 4 Canadian soldiers who were giving out candy to Afghanistani chidren...Why are we fighting someone else's war? Statistics indicate that Canadian soldiers are 6 times more likely to die in Afghanistan, than a U.S. soldier in Iraq. Why do we want to copy U.S. foreign policy instead of being the great diplomats of peace that we once were?

for an amphibious assault. i think it is good for humanitarian services but to do an amphbious operation with only a battalion size landing force, which is only 3 line companies is entirely to small for an assault

I see documentaries of the U.S. military patrolling the streets in Iraq trying to play the police role. It isn't working out well. They don't appear to be properly trained in that area. Nor should they be. Do you think that is the main reason for failure in Iraq? Cops shouldn't try to play soldier and soldier shouldn't try to play cop. Occupation is a VERY hard thing to pull off.
