you can no longer send a generic card, latter or package. you must have a name. Contact your local reserve base if you do not have a Active Duty base nearby, and maybe you will find a unit to 'adopt' if you can find someone willing to pass on names and addresses.
In lieu of a base, contact your local VFW or American Legion.

Due to Security Reasons as well as others, you will have to have a POC in order to send mail to a Servicemember or Unit. The best thing to do is check with your Local Reserve Center to see if they know of any Units that are Downrange....ask for the Chaplain. They are the BEST Source. As for the mention of AnySoldier.com: it is a great place, BUT so many people send things that sometimes the Soldier gets overloaded...

Brandy B:
"Thank You" for caring about our brave service men and women who are serving in the middle east.
"Somegal32" gave you an excellent suggestion, and I agree that the web-site that may best serve your purpose is "AnySoldier.com" This site was set up to allow citizens to send letters and "care" packages to service members. It is updated daily and is broken down by service branch, and country deployed to. One of the qualifications is that the Soldier, Sailor, Marine, Airman, of Coast Guardsman must actually be serving in a country where they are "in harms way". The service member may tell about what they are doing, post pictures, or they may simply request items that are difficult to find at their duty station. For security reasons, at the present, you may only request one address each day. Cards and letters only require the standard 39 cent stamp. The soldier you chose may or may not reply. Try it for yourself, go to "Anysoldier.com", then click on "Where to Send".
If I may suggest, perhaps your class may also want to "chip in together" and purchase or donate an inexpensive toy to send for a child in Iraq or Afghanistan. For some reason beanie babies, balls, and kites are big hits with the kids in Afghanistan (these things were forbidden under the Taliban.) Any package over one ounce requires two copies of USPS form 2976A, Customs Declaration, so that might become more involved than you wish to get in to.

if you want a reliable address to send stuff to soldiers overseas the best updated daily site is www.anysoldier.com... has pics and lists of needed supplies. This is a great question, I hope I answered it. Bless you for caring and asking. I know they will appriciate your kindness.

Try looking on the USO website. You will need to get involved with an organization that is already sending stuff over there.

Try www.troopfanmail.net
Great organization - I helped out sometimes. There is no general mailing address due to anthrax and stuff.
