In Iraq we are fighing for the future of civilizatation as we know it.
If we lose, we are hosed big time. Losing is not an option.
Yes, no one likes this war, but it must be waged and the terrorists MUST be defeated at this place, at this time.
If not, the ramificatitions will reverberate throughout our western societies for generations to come.
If we lose in Iraq ,we will just have to fight another war even closer ,maybe on our soil, with an emboldened enemy that can slowly strangle us.
Wake up and understand this, hippies.
You have allowed your hatred of Bush to cloud your judgement and vision.
The terrorists are not going away.
They are throwing everything they have at us in Iraq, because they know THIS IS THE BATTLE.
If they lose in Iraq , they are done.,and they know that.
It's either us or them.

"Iraq" was lost by bungling after the fall of Baghdad. Kurdistan is basically an independent country, the South is controlled by the Shia. "Iraq" is a false concept. It is the presence of the US in Iraq that brought foreign terrorists there. The country should be split up into three states, Shia, Sunni and Kurdish. The big problem is Baghdad.

You are just spouting the Bush Propaganda. Bush had no understanding of Iraq before the war, he didn't know the difference between Shia and Sunni. He has learned little from his mistakes in Iraq.

The idea of a Muslim invasion of the US is absurd. We to need get out of Iraq (we are in the middle of a Civil War) and focus on terrorism. This Muslim Caliphate crap is a distraction. The idea that all these people -- are somehow going to get together and invade US is another scare tactic. Just because bin laden wants to reinstate the caliphate does not mean this is remotely possible in reality.

I would say the the United States Military is chomping at the bit to get in there and and take them out. But the United States Government is holding the rains and stopping the military from winning. It is all a game to the USA and the same for the UN. So I don't put any blame on the military but right on the shoulders of the United States Government.

I don't see anything wrong with a 10 million dead terrorist no matter what there religious beliefs are.

You do know that it is impossible for US (us, the US) to win Iraq....?

We're just the babysitters and the referees. We can't win the war, only the Iraqi people can. And they don't want our help.

And how can you possibly think that any outcome in Iraq is going to make any difference with the rest of the world? No, the terrorists are not going away. But they are not staying in Iraq either.

The loudest (but weakest) argument for staying in Iraq is that "we're fighting terrorists over there, so we don't have to fight them over here." First, there isn't any proof that what we're doing has any significant impact on what terrorists outside Iraq are doing. Or for that matter, on what terrorists inside Iraq are doing.

It's sheer speculation (might be true, probably not) that the insurgents fighting against US forces in Iraq would suddenly start attacking US cities if the US left. More likely, they'd continue their own civil war without interference from us. And those terrorists who are planning on hitting the US or Europe probably aren't spending their days planting IEDs along Iraqi highways. They're already overseas planning their attacks.

So, it's highly debatable whether our presence in Iraq is having any effect toward stopping other terrorist attacks outside Iraq. And certainly, regardless of what happens in Iraq, all the terrorists are not suddenly going to give up and go away. Nobody is naive enough to actually believe that.

And while the goal of fighting terrorists might be a good one, the means we're using to accomplish them are highly wasteful of both resources and American lives. And from any perspective, stupid means are not a good way to achieve any goals.

Bullshit. We are fighting for capitalism and control of oil until oil exhausted and the oil barons are in control of the next source of oil. Our western civilization . USA. consumes 90% of all the world's natural resources. We create most of the garbage because of our disposable society. I am not anti-American and I love my country but our way is not the only way and we are not setting an example. We are destroying the planet. Sorry, but hippies had the right idea. Too bad the younger generation doesnt have the guts to start the movement over again. Those of us that supposedly "hate" Bush just disapprove of his policies, his destruction of the environment, and his disregard for the policies of other nations. We promoted democracy in Lebanon and look who the Lebanese elected. We came down hard on Lebanon but they did elect who they wanted. This is the hypocrisy that Bush represents.

It is not impossible to win. It's a matter of what we are willing to **do** to win. You cannot fight the unreasonable with reason and expect to win. They have to be met, head on, with their own skewed version of war tactics on the same field and with nothing held back.

As long as we are "playing" war and endangering our servicemen and women, we're not going to get anywhere.

Found on this site (http://peace.heebz.com/islam.html), the following: "To quote the Ayatollah Khomeini again, "Eleven things are unclean: urine, excrement, sperm, blood, a dog, a pig, bones, a non-Muslim man and woman, wine, beer, and the perspiration of a camel that eats filth". "

With the exception of #8 (the non-Muslim man and woman), can you imagine the possibilities of what can be done with the other ten? Okay, even excluding the 11th one mentioned, as it could get tedious both feeding the filth to the camel, as well as collecting its sweat, just the other nine. What COULD be done with the other nine?

According to the Muslim faith, if you are unclean you cannot get into whatever 'heaven' they have and you dam*ed sure don't get your 72 virgins. How can there be a holy war if none of them are left holy? Ya can't be holy and unclean at the same time.

I suspect wave after wave of those planes that dump fire retardant could be used. So could modified fire trucks. Probably tanks. Very likely something along the lines of whatever a modern-day bazooka is, but no need to shoot fire with it.

When we meet them at their own level and when we are willing to thumb our noses at the U.N. and do unto others that which has been done unto us, then we'll win and it won't take long.

We first need to round up all Muslims in this the U.S. and detain them for their own safety ... as well as for purposes of figuring out whose side they're *really* on.

I hear the Muslims say they do not support the actions of terrorists. The predominantly Muslim countries hate us because we are fighting the battle on their turf. It seems this is their battle (although it seems they are choosing not to battle) and accusing us of interfering. I think all we are asking is for terrorists to leave others in peace. They are ruthless and so we have been forced to take initiative and force our hand. It is only that we have been fairly successful in keeping terrorists from hurting us here that it makes it hard for people to understand what we've been fighting. I would rather we force our hand than to fully understand what we are fighting.

Interesting you suggest the terrorists are in Iraq.... Are you sure about that? If the US were focusing on Afghanistan, I'd agree with most of what you typed. The war in Iraq will not gain anyone anything!

We can't win. There's nothing to win anymore, it's not so much a war as a just a huge mess. The best we can do is help secure the Iraqi parliament then get the hell out.
