MEPS is an assembly line where the machines are desks and waiting rooms, and the goods being processed are people going through the pipeline.
Here's the problem: the military rides on paper. It takes a ton of paper to get a single person enlisted or commissioned. It is so much stuff that if it is not organized properly you can spend two or three days getting your paperwork in order. This is why it feels like an assembly line. You go to a room and talk to a person, fill some papers. Go to another room, do something else, more papers, etc.
Between steps you may find yourself hanging out with other candidates in a recreation room or some kind of waiting area.
Basically it is a huge office.

Everything above is right, it's just a huge paper process and then medical process as well as the asvab if you haven't took it yet. You'll get there EARLY in the morning about 5am with tons of other people there for the same reason. Then they send you off to your respective office, from there they'll give you the paperwork you need and send you back to the front desk. You'll fill out the form you should of done for your recruiter but you'll do it there in a classroom and sign it. Then onto medical, you'll get everything checked (ears, eyes, drugs, height and weight and even a quick pap). From there you might have to take the asvab first before all of that if you haven't done it prior. You can also go in and do the asvab on a seperate day, don't let your recruiter tell you otherwise. After that you'll just sit and wait on a counselor to go over your contract. Anything that your recruiter told you would be in your contract needs to be in it once you sit down with your counselor. Any bonuses, jobs, education benefits, anything. They might try and hurry you through it but this is your contract so ask as many questions cause after that the only answer to questions about guaranteed jobs and bonuses is: is it on your contract? If not they will not be able to do anything. Then you'll swear in and be free to go. It'll be a long day there, be sure to get some sleep before hand. No cell phones, no nothing from the outside. Good luck!

Absolutley. It's a little scary but not to worry.Have you taken the ASVAB?You may need to take that. You will get a complete..and I do mean complete!! ...physical.You will talk to a "counselor" who will tell you what jobs you are qualified for and what they are offering you.Don't let them pressure you.Try to get the job you want but have a couple of choices handy because you need to be flexible. They can't give you a job that isn't available. When you are done you will sign a contract and probably be given a bootcamp date and will take an oath entering the "delayed enlistment program" if you haven't already.I was in both the Air Force and Navy. Both are excellent choices.BEST OF LUCK TO YA!

Its a long day filled with rude people telling what to do. Dont take it personal though. Its the only time you have to do that stuff. Your recruiter will give you a MEPS briefing with what to expect the day before you go.

Meps sucks. Plain and simple.
It's a lot of hurry up and wait.
Draw your blood. Now sit and wait for an hour.
Take a piss test, then fill out these papers.
How good can you see? Okay, now sit outside for another hour and a half.
You sure you aren't lieing to us? Okay, well fill out these other papers.
That's the basics of it.

I was there 4 years ago and it's boring. You'll survive, just don't fall asleep in the waiting rooms! I was in the Marine Corps so they were tougher on us, but the Air Force seemed to be more relaxed on you guys. My sister is in the AF and she loves it. Good luck!
