What are the effects to the Iraqi people if the US wasn't there? Would it be any worse? Could it be any worse?

It can get much worse than it is. And I think it will get worse whether the US pulls out or not. Most of the violence is between different religious sects but some is aimed at the Americans. It is a sad fact that Saddam, for all his brutalities, did manage to keep a semblence of peace. The US has failed to do this, and I cannot see that they will ever succeed. They are foreigners in a land that they do not understand. They should withdraw, but should try hard to leave some sort of tenable governmental/security structure in place. Peace can only come from the people. It cannot be imposed upon them by foreigners.

if the US wasn't there and didn't take out saddam they would be tortured, raped and murdered. if we leave iraq now, the same will probably happen once the insurgents would take over the goverenment. the us has helped iraq in many ways, from sanitation systems to improved waterflow and plumbing. iraqis for the most part, in most areas anyway, have the freedom now to be themselves and not be the rule of a dictator. if the insurgents take over the government if the US leaves, i don't see them being any nicer to the iraqi people, or at least the religious sects they don't care for, they will probably just be murdered. which would bring us to ethnic cleansing then not only will the us get involved but every major world power will get involved.

I don't think anyone in power is concerned with the Iraqi people, per se. They can die in droves and no one would really care.

The real concern is that an unfriendly (ie, unfriendly to US interests) government could take over or, even worse, Iran and this could further destabilize Iraq. Of course, ignore the fact that the United States was a major contributor to the destabilization in the first place.

If the US pulls out of Iraq. It would be bad, it would show the world that we are weak and our enemies would possibly invade us. Go ahead and laugh.....

Secondly, civil war would break out in the middle east. Sunni vs Shia and it would spread through out the arabian world. So you'd be paying about $20 a gallon for gas since Sunni nations like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE and Qatar would be fighting for their lives and none of that oil would make it to market.

Iran would develop a nuclear device, give it to Hezboullah and Israel would be destroyed. North Korea would nuke South Korea. China would possibly invade Taiwan and Japan. I say Japan because China wants payback for what Japan did to them during World War 2 and China would know that we are weak.

i do not understand what precisely ought to ensue. Iraqi PM has stated those days that they felt they were waiting to operate with out troops from the U. S. and uk. If we pulled out i trust lots of the terrorist communities and some international places ought to call us weak, and proceed to attack the Iraqi human beings. (they are besides) That being stated, we've more advantageous issues in our personal united states we ought to continually be coping with first. All this money going to the conflict ought to correctly be procuring foodstuff and preserve for OUR homeless. we desire to take care of our personal first. enable the Iraqis figure their issues out, weve been assisting for 6 years now, its time to stop conserving their hand at the same time as our loved ones are lack of life. they are combating a religous conflict over there, they don't look going to offer up. yet another aspect...all the troops we've over in Iraq, center East , etc...who is going to shelter us hostile to an attack immediately? confident there are troops the following, yet ought to it truly is sufficient?

They will leave the country in a worse shape than it was in when they invaded. Iraq will have a civil war so they can decide who will be in charge and then things will gradually improve.

@drewsef: when US invaded more people died. Uneducated civilians where killed but i guess they arent worth the same as other people.

Chaos in Iraq. The new government will fall apart. Iran will take over. No matter what we want to say, we have to fight Islamic terrorists and the countries that harbor them. They will work until we either wipe them out or they wipe us out.

The Taliban would pull in before the dust settled and kill multiple thousands of Iraq citizens.

The Muslims will have have influence in yet another country. They have already defeated Spain and France. Germany has surrendered and the Dutch have been displaced by Arabs.

Remember what Hitler did when he reached the English Channel? He pushed on. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
