What's wrong with the Marine Corps? Too tough?

2006-08-10 17:14:22 · 3 answers · asked by Charlie B 2

We can back the Sunnis since Iran already backs the Shiites. We can provide them with supplies and covert aid (as we withdraw our troops). Right now, only Iran (through the Shiites) is doing the fighting in Iraq.

We have met them (via Hezbollah) in Lebanon (via Israel). We could do the same in Iraq. This is sort of how we fought the cold war against the Soviets...always via proxies.

I know war is bad and I'd prefer a peaceful solution to the Iranian nuke development problem but this idea saves American lives by ending our overt involvement in Iraq yet forces Iran to pay attention to be on the defensive for a change.

Thoughts?

if peace an option, why do people do war?

if you don't want your mother/daughter be killed, why do you shoot other people's mother/daughter?

if religion teach peace, why do you have to do war to gain peace?

if politics drive you crazy, why do you still want to be a president?

answers in humanitarian view, religious view, or politician view, all accepted. thank you

I saw it on the history channel three years ago. It was a show about navy history and included some new technology as well. I was hoping to hear more about it in the future, but it has been three years and I have no further information about it other than the fact that it was developed by the navy, is currently being used by SEALS, and allows the user to absorb oxygen into the bloodstream through the inhaling of water into the lungs. the lungs are coated by the substance and before the user can breath normal air again they must vomit the gel out of their lungs. I would just like to know the name of the substance.

Iran
Saudi Arabia
Egypt
Iraq

Why is America on their black list? They struck us first didn't they? Don't they have enough to worry about in their own country? Or do they really think they are going to take over the world?

I am really thinking about this issue and I'd like to get more input.

Simplified (horribly simplified) US and Israeli policy on terrorism seems to be "Hit back way out of proportion to how hard we ourselves are struck."

The US lost the World Trade Center and several thousand innocent lives. We took over not only the country responsible but a second Islamic country as well. Israel looses two soldiers to a kidnapping; it bombs Lebanon back to the 1960's.

My question is not really if this is right or wrong. In my mind, all war is terrible. At the same time, Islamic extremism is a danger to innocent people the world over - including to those in Islamic countries. They are mass murderers who must be stopped.

So my question becomes this: Will US and Israeli policy be effective in the war on terrorism? Can we scare other countries into cracking down on radical Islam within their own borders? Will this end terrorism or at least make it much less likely to occur?

MISSION, TX — Lizbeth Flores of Mission plans to join Cindy Sheehan’s second anti-war vigil in front of President George W. Bush’s summer vacation home in Crawford, Texas, for three days beginning Monday.

In early July, Flores lost her husband, 27-year-old Army Staff Sgt. Omar D. Flores, during his second tour of Iraq and has been looking for a way to tell the president how she feels about the war and her husband’s death.

Sheehan — who contacted friends of Flores to see if the 25-year-old widow would join this summer’s protest — commanded media attention last summer with her vocal anti-war vigil in front of the president’s vacation home in Crawford.

She publicly blames Bush for the 2004 death of her son in Iraq and has been demanding to meet with him since last August.

Of course I know he won't, but it would be consistent with his strategy so far in the war on terror, wouldn't it? I think it demonstrates the futility of trying to identify every country that could be a terrorist stronghold. Terrorists could be anywhere and everywhere, and the only thing you can count on is that the next place they'll strike is probably where we'd least expect it. What do you think?

I have to give to them boyz... nice timing!!!

Well Hello!!!

Ermmmm... more then 1000+ innocent people died in Lebanon and more dieing - FACT!

In the news (UK) ... I just saw a top copper giving a news conference and the phrase that stuck in my mind was, (and I paraphrase) "the devices that they would have built could have caused a lot of damage".

So they are virtually shutting down air travel from the UK, and passing on that logistical nightmare around the world in disrupted schedules, all because of devices that didn't yet exist?
I'm awaiting the appearance of Britain's law enforcement TV superstar, Sir Ian Blair, to tell us what a fine job he is doing and how we should be very, very scared, with baited breath.

NOTE: would have built? and could have?

more scare mongering?

No sheep wishes to venture very far from the flock.

But havn't we had enough of this bullcrap?

9/11, 7/7 and now this? for what?... to justify more Wars and more blood shed?
