I see the war in Iraq as a deliberate attempt by the terrorists, to keep the Americans pre-occupied with busy work, so that they are not available to concentrate on more important issues, issues such as Iran and Syria.

If it is the American administrations policy, to keep boots on the ground in the middle east and ready to move on a moments notice, should the need occur, then I applaud their strategy.

The US has an impressive intel network that is always working. Granted, it's not a perfect science, but you can bet that it has established the important scenarios, and knows how it will react to anyone of them, should the need occur.

Personnaly, I believe the job is done in Iraq. The US has done as much as it is prepared to do for the new, fledgling government of Iraq. The whole thing about sticking around, may be to keep our troops and equipment their, until it is needed somewhere, nearby.

No. It was the right thing to do. Regardless of its possible covert intentions, it got rid of a very evil dictator. So, purely from a humanitarian standpoint, I think people can sleep better at night knowing they have less chances to "disappear" or be tortured for just looking the wrong way.

With all the American servicemen killed there I sure hope not. I am a Vietnam Vet and kind of don't trust bureaucrats. Seems we may have the same problems now as then. We really need a good leader, to bad Teddy Roosevelt is no longer with us.

When it began it wasn't a fiasco because it removed from power one of the most brutal, sadistic dictators of modern times. Today it IS a fiasco because our military can not defeat terrorist tactics.

Only to those who are staunch pacifists. From a military standpoint it is a success.
