Why can't these two countries win wars against the countries they are presently fighting with when they have the most modern equipped and sophisticated armies in the world?. I know the territories are difficut to fight in mostly because of the mountains in the region but surely with all their experience these wars should have been won a long time ago. Why haven't they caught Osmana bin Laden after all this time?. Is it because they really don't want to catch him? I have heard many times that Bush has business dealings with him whilst I was on holiday in India. Is there any truth in this?

I have heard from many many Navy wives, that the Family Separation Allowance is going up from $250.00 to $750.00. Anybody else heard of this?

Religious or not, it would work - see how you would like it if your family was killed in the name of extremists.

Okay I have an interest in the Army. But I have 3 kids here at home with me. There really isn't anyone to take them for 9 weeks of training. Does anyone know if there are camps where you are able to bring them with you? Or is that not an option in the Army?

They nag a lot for small stuff. I get in trouble all the time because this female won't back off of me. She acts like she's my mother and trys to talk to me horrible. I put my foot down regardless because I'm not having anyone talk to me like crap. No offense, ladies but I'm a man and I'll be damned if I let a woman talk to me any kind of way. I'm a man first. Soldier second. She's really given me a hard time and she doesn't like being a NCO in charge of me because I won't let her control me. She say stuff, like "Why did you let that door slam like that.", "Why are you doing this, don't do that." I'm like man, can I breathe? Is that o.k.? I don't like feeling like I have to walk on eggshells to please people. Why are so many female sargeants in the Army so nagging especially to other male soldiers once they get in charge? One of the reasons I can't wait to get out of the Army. I don't care what negative comment you respond to my question either. You can say what you want. Don't care!!

L.A Times : Water : The damaged or broken facilities include a pumping station on the Wazzani River, whose inauguration by Lebanon in 2002 prompted Israel to threaten military action because it diverted water a few hundred yards from the Israeli border, in a watershed that feeds the Jordan River, Lebanese officials said. At the time, Hezbollah promised to defend the facility.

The ucmj requires you to obey all lawful orders of those of higher rank. The "code of conduct" requires the same should you become a prisoner of war. The "code of conduct" also says that in war you will continue to fight as long as you have the means to resist. It also requires that if captured you will attempt to escape if possible. My question is: If in combat a unit commander determines that to continue fighting would be futile and lead to unnecessary loss of life and decides to surrender, are those under him required to lay down their arms and surrender, or may they continue to engage the enemy? I was an nco myself and at the time I never thought about those circumstances and don't recall it ever being covered. Please if you are just making an educated guess say so. If you know for sure please state that too. Thanks.

1. What are main differences between Army, Navy, and Marine OTSs?

2. How long is OTS and what happens if you don't "pass?" What are you actually doing when you sign on the dotted line?

3. Do you get paid while attending OTS or only upon completion? Any "sign-up" bonuses, etc.? What kind of salary can one expect after completion? Vacation/Leave, benefits, etc.?

4. Where do you attend OTS, the nearest location to where you currently live or do they send you wherever they have "room?"

5. Is there a lot of travel involved in OTS and/or for the Officers that graduate? (I love to travel, although maybe not on a sub!)

Thanks in advance everyone! Just thought I'd check in here before contacting an actual recruiter...

P.S. I already have a 4-year degree (B.A. in Design/Computers)

I was honorably discharged from the Army in05, and during my three year enlistment I could not wait to get out. I'm doing well now in civilian life, but every so often(like after watching a war movie) I get the urge to put on full battle rattle, PMCS a Humvee, clean my weapon,etc,etc.. Heck, I even give myself a PT test every week, just to make sure I can still cut it. (I'm in better shape now, then I've ever been my entire Army career)

Am I the only veteran that feels like this???
