There isn't any childcare available for your training (in any branch) but there is more that just 9 weeks, that is just the basic training part. After that you have to go through more training to get you MOS and you still can't have your children with you. You can be gone anywhere from 4 months to a year depending on your job that you sign up for. Once you get into the Army they have day care centers on post that charge according to your rank so you will never pay too much. The Army is a great way to be sure that your family is taken care of but you will need to give them to someone who can watch them while you are gone. You can allot a certain amount of money each month from your paycheck for things like food and clothes and such. Good luck.

Like someone else said about the Air Force not taking single moms - I'm not sure the Army does either. Met a guy who was in and his wife left him with three or four kids - the Army was forcing him to take a hardship discharge since there was no one to watch his kids. It's hard enough on a family with one parent at home when the military member is gone, I can't imagine trying to do it alone.

I'm not sure about now, but there was a time when a single parent could not join the military. And 9 weeks of basic training is just a start. You will then have Advanced Individual Training. That will be a minimum of 8 weeks. Then you get to your permanent station and depending on your MOS, there will be time in the field.
Just a bunch of stuff to think about.

no, when you go through basic, Anoc, Bnoc, and any other training cources it is total isolation, no family or friends, you graduate, its not like a day camp where you go home at the end of the day...you sleep there, eat there and live there till the end, but surley you have parents who would be more than happy to help you out for 6-9 weeks of basic and the other training fields you go through...good luck, oh, well i dont know about reserves, they are pretty soft on the matter of letting family see you and letting you go home, if i were you i would find a recruter and work out a plan, good luck

if you are a single parent, you cannot enlist in the Active duty service at all. Only Guard and some Reserves. you would have to give up complete legal and physical custody for the length of the entire enlistment to go Active, which is at least 4 years most times. you would NOT be able to get custody back at all during that time.
All parents must have a family care plan in effect at all times.. a short term(under 24 hours notice) and a long term provider. they will not care one whit that you don't have a babysitter.. if you are called on to go, you go. period. you can and will be discharged for trying to get back custody before your first term is up.

You can't take your children with you to basic training in any branch of the service. Have you tried to enlist in the Army already? The Air Force won't take single moms.

No. You will have to have someone to tend to them. You will not be allowed to see them while in boot camp. After your training; you could work things differently but you would always have to have a dependable sitter. What if you get called to the war? Think they will be going too?

You have to have a family support plan meaning someone who can watch the kids at any time. Basically sign them over. The kids are your responsibility, not the military. It's either that or you don't join.

No you can't bring them with you. You will have to find someone to take care of them while you are gone for BCT and AIT.
Oh btw...Army BCT is 13 weeks long these days...
