Time and time again Israel has tried to make peace with its neighbors, by giving into their demands. Israel just wants to live in peace and quiet. This is why Israel withdrew from Southern Lebanon in 2000 and from Gaza last year.
These withdrawals have only led to violence. In the north, Hizbollah has amassed a large arsenal of weapons in Israel's absence, that it is now shooting down onto Israel. Gaza has become a terrorist haven. As soon as Israel withdrew the began further attacking Israel. The 'palestinian' culture is one of hatred and violence - and cannot exist without it. The cannot accept peace, and won't allow it to happen.
"Palestinians" were a people created in the last century solely for the purpose of waging a campaign of violence against Israel. 50 -75 years ago the term "palestinian" meant Jew, but today the local Arabs have coined themselves 'palestinian' and have created a culture of hatred and violence. These are values taught to young children in schools. Peace and tolerance are not taught.
Israel has movements such as "shalom achshav" that preach peace at any cost. These groups are free to criticize the Israeli at any time. Why is there no Arab version of "shalom achshav".
Througout history, every Israeli overture of peace has resulted in more violence. In 1947 / 48 Israel agreed to a 2 state solution. The Arabs response was War. In 1993 the Oslo accords began the handing of autonomous power to the 'palestinians'. This lead to an increase in regular suicide bombings. Buses all over Israel were bombed on a regular basis. In 2000 Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak agreed to give to the palestinians 97% of the land Israel captured in the 1967 war from Jordan and Egypt (not Including the Sinai that was already given away). The 'palestinians' did not accept this. They were offered a state, and they said NO! Their response - the second Intifada. Finally, last year Israel withdrew fro Gaza, this resulted in IMMEDIATE violence, including the daily bombing of Sderot and Ashkelon, in addition to the more recent kidnapping of an Israeli soldier.
In summary, Israel offers peace, arabs respond with violence. To me, this justifies military action. Israel already attempted diplomacy and good will. This was flat out rejected. The arabs want a war, and now they have one.
Israel needs to root out these 2 terrorist organizations, and make the WORLD a safer and better place to live.

Any one who reads what " True Patriot " has to say about the Arabs, or the Palestinians in specific, would think and at once : what the hell those ppl are doing ? why they are acting like this ? why they do not want peace.....etc !!!
To begin with, I,am not " pro " anybody, neither Israelis nor Arabs, but I do have a little secret which is : I READ A LOT !!!!
I do know that Palestinians go back in their existence much more
than 75 years to start with, also " True Patriot " spoke about the Palestinians being very violent, and unpeacefull ppl, that is where my question comes :
How do expect those ppl to be peaceful, if the Jails of the Israeli Govt. are full with their families, who most of them were arrested and spent some time in there, without being judged even.
If Israel is ready - one day - to come half way with the Palestinians, I,am sure peace will prevail.
As for " ELIMINATING " Hezbollah, I do consider it like : " devil's hope in Paradise " !!! Because, any one following the war's event, would say that : Even Hezbollah looses the war at the end,
it will be considered as victory, because this is not a standard Army - Hezbollah - even though, it has lasted all this time.
One more thing, rest assure, win or loose, Hezbollah will not attack again, unless attacked.

I don't understand how could Israel underestimate Hezbollah. Although Israel's concerns are legitimate and the presence of Hezbollah is not good, this campaign will serve to reinforce Hezbollah. Survival is success, for them, whereas for Israel, victory is the total destruction of Hezbollah, and this is impossible. A guerrilla cannot be defeated. Now the problem is that Iran is going to be involved and then... well, the survival of Israel is crucial for the survival of the whole world. This campaign was a terrible mistake from the beginning.

As a psychologist.... one of the MANY comments I could make about this is...... Have you ever heard of "LEADING Questions" and the type of answers they illicit? And how come there have been wars ravaging all sorts of countries for years but "The West" only get involved in a few? Wonder why that is........... And how exactly are they going to ELIMINATE Hezbollah? They don't exactly go around wearing T.Shirts do they? And don't you think that the way Israel has gone about it will actually make more people join it (and perhaps buy T.shirts)?

How do you eliminate Hezbollah? If you wanted to get rid of a large, reasonably popular armed organisation (such as the NRA) how would you do it? Do you think killing people would work? Do you think destroying the country would work? Do you think attacking anything that moves in "NRA controlled areas" would work? If Canada (say) thought the NRA was a threat to their national security, would they be justified in invading the US, killing US citizens, whether they are involved in the NRA or not? If you live in the same area as a member (and you probably do) does that mean you support them? Does that therefore mean that your life, those of your family and neighbours is forfeit, whether you've ever touched a gun or not? Does it?
Doesn't sound so glorious when you bring it closer to home. War for peace is like sex for virginity. The only people who benefit are arms manufacturers (surprise surprise - Britain and America), carrion birds and coffin makers. WAR. SOLVES. NOTHING.

Hezbollah fighters kidnapped two Israeli soldiers, when Israeli soldiers went to get them they were met with military style tactics and weapons. The Lebanese police didn’t arrest the kidnappers and they didn’t evacuate the citizens from a danger zone.
The Israelis were forced to try and get their soldiers back. When Israeli soldiers attempted this Hezbollah fighters used rockets and automatic weapons to keep the kidnapped soldiers. Several Israeli soldiers were killed in the attempt.
The wide spread fighting with the Hezbollah fighters makes them accessories to kidnapping and guilty of murder. The vast numbers of fighters should make this organized crime.
With the failure of the Lebanese police at both levels, the Israelis must do what is required to get their people returned. Military style tactics require military action to get this done. With the failure of the Lebanese police to get their people to safety, Israel can’t allow the citizens to deter them from bringing the criminals to justice.
Organized crime of this magnitude can’t be allowed to escape punishment. The Israelis must use any and all methods to bring organized crime to justice, the numbers of criminals and the firepower they have makes military action of any level to get the job done necessary. Hezbollah has a member holding the position of Speaker of the Parliament an elected position voted on by the Parliament. This must therefore be considered as a government sponsored action and any action by Israel needed to bring justice is warranted.
Hezbollah should have caught the kidnappers and sentenced them to justice. The failure of Hezbollah to capture the kidnappers and the killing of Israelis makes all the Hezbollah fighters accessories to kidnapping and guilty of murder. The shear level of the numbers of criminals, should have brought outside aide to Israel in the suppression of the Hezbollah organized crime criminals.
The failure of the worlds leaders is to their eternal shame, and that the whole world shall have to bear. Our world leaders have become cowards and not able to deal with a large organized crime syndicate. The Israelis are left to do what ever is required to bring all the criminals to justice.
Had this accrued in the US and Hezbollah hid in a neighborhood, then used rockets and automatic weapons on the same scale. The US military would level all the buildings occupied by Hezbollah and bring down the buildings with the criminals inside. As soon as the police had evacuated the citizens who were in danger.
Israel is doing no different, the law is the law and the organized crime syndicate known as Hezbollah must be brought to justice, no matter the cost. The law is clear and must be enforced.

dam all of you people !!!!
don't you have any minds !!!
hisb allah is just defending his country
and if you think that hisb allah start this war you are wrong
some of the Lebanon soil is still occupied by Israel since more than 20 years and thousands of the Lebanese are in the Israel dungeons !!! so hisb allah had no choice but to attack and capture some areal solitaires to get these thousands out of the Israel dungeons
so think twice before you put a biased question like this
what i think as some one close to the area of conflict is not Israel nor any one can eliminate hisb allah inside there land and am sure that you see the proof every day on the screen just yesterday 14 Isreal soldires were killed !!!!

When you put it that way … it seems obvious! However the problem runs further than you think.
Hezbollah is not an army; it is an organic creation of a culture of violence and misguidance.
Such entities cannot be destroyed with bombs and guns you have to discredit their purpose!
Make it a shamefull thing to be a Hezbollah and people will stop joining them.

Eliminate.... it's the only way for Israel to be rid of Hezbollah. 6 years ago Israel agreed to a cease fire with a much smaller Hezbollah, and withdrew from Lebanon. The UN and the Lebanese government were to disarm and disband Hezbollah.... Worked real well... NOT!

Let them try! Hizbollah are people of the south of Lebanon, defending their country, knowing that Israel is a dirty savage criminal state who is trying to convince that they want peace! But you can see their crimes in Lebanon. They want everything but peace. Hizbollah has the right to strike because: 1- Israel is still occuppying the lebanese shebaa farms.
2-Israel has many lebanese prisoners.
3-Israel is teaching their children to hate their neighbors. You can see this: http://www.fromisraeltolebanon.org/
So we're not safe.
