he is basically going to talk to you about the asvab ( the test to get into the military) then he is going to tell you what the marines is about and what to expect in bootcamp

Boy did you come to the right place, first let me give you my credentials, I'm a retired Marine with 30 years experience, I have seen and done things that you can not even imagine, I have fought in wars and seen the horror of death, I've seen many of my brothers die horrible deaths I've seen many of them lose arms, legs etc. I have been to hell and back, When I came back from Vietnam I had people spit on me and call me a baby killer, I spent the rest of my time fighting in places you have never heard of. Would I do it again? Hell yes! because I love my country! I have looked in childrens faces and had them thank me for freeing them, i have seen the look of relief on peoples faces when we came in and helped them, I've felt the hugs from these people and how grateful they were to see the Marines, It was worth it! These are the things your recruiter will not tell you about, but they are the things Marines are expected to do. You need to ask yourself, Am I up for this? The tests to get in are only a small part, the 3 months spent in boot camp are tough but they will make you see things in yourself that you didn't think you were capable of, If you are up to it and can make it through you will have a feeling of respect for yourself and all the other Marines that have served before you. When you earn the title of Marine you will understand the pride of the Corps and what it stands for, I hope you make it, you will not be sorry, these are the true tests you have to face. Your DI's will make your life a living hell, they will make you do things you had no idea you could do. but when you finally get it you will understand the pride of being a Marine. Semper Fi (which you will learn the meaning of) And I wish you the best! MGSGT WOODALL USMC RETIRED.

You know, talking to a Recruiter and asking questions doesn't automatically enlist you. Call one up and start asking! Also, check out www.marines.com. There's a ton of information on the site that I think would be helpful. You may even discover that if the Marines isn't a right fit, maybe one of the other branches is. Best of luck to you.

He will try to talk you into it in many ways. You have to make the decision, thinking not of the "glitz and glammer" (money, free education, etc), but of you really being in a war (because no matter what he says, there is a great chance you would go) and having your life be on the line. So you need to think about this long and hard, sleeping on it many nights, talking about it with everyone you know, because it is a life-changing decision. Take care.

You will get informative answers and a lot of bullsheet promises. Just remember what it boils down to is you are giving yourself away to the government and it will decide what it wants to do with you for the time you're enlisting (plus those extra years in the fine print when they can call you back to active duty). They may promise you duty in Okinawa instead of Iraq, or perhaps some special technical training. You're more likely going to end up clearing up minds around Baghdad. Be careful what you sign- you literally are signing away your life.

I'm a Marine. I can answer some questions if you would like. One thing, when you decide what job (MOS) you want, stick with it. DON'T GO INTO THE MARINES WITH AN "OPEN CONTRACT". That means they put you in a job where they need you. You might get a good one. My buddy did that and was sent to be a cook. Hit me up if you need anything.

o dint worry. Just walk in and tell em what your interested in doing. They will talk down info and ask you (if you have the time) to take the written test just to see what you need help in and what to study. Its not the actually Test but a practice. You cant take the real one that quickly.
Test results are immediate.

Go the nearest recruiter office in your area and inquire about your interest in joining the marines. They're very accommodating and will answer all your queries.
