My idea is that after a 6 to 8 year length of service, military personel get a hefty raise, and a government guarenteed retirement plan, that they invest in themselves, such as the Thrift Savings Plan. They could invest up to 50% of their pay. Also, not have a mandatory retirement time in service, but mandatory age 60 for anyone under E-7, under O-4, and WO's with no required retirement. For those with service connected disability, a Tri-Care plan and Veterans Administration Health Plan, and Tri-Care/ any military medical facility, at age 60 (Tri-care to include full Medical, Dental, and Vission, Veterans Administration for Service connected).

My cousin just came back from Iraq about 2 months ago and one of the questions I asked her was hearing all this talk about bashing the war here in America ever lower your morale while in Iraq? She told me yes because she wanted the mission she helped start to be finished completely. She also told me about the Iraqi's who wanted the U.S. to help and about there struggles that the Iraqi's faced every day just by going to work. She told me that people who support a pull out of soldiers need to go down there and see that there are Iraqi's that want us to stay and help. Finally she said it would feel like a punch in the stomach if we left the job unfinished because so many Americans and Iraqi's have died fighting for the freedom of Iraq. To all soldiers who have served in Iraq and who may be serving in Iraq hearing this talk about leaving Iraq and bashing the war does it lower your morale?

After the sad events happened on 9/11 the people of this great country were united with our President in fighting the terrorists that attacked us. After whipping up on Al-Quaida and the Taliban alot of people here in the U.S. became complacent and going back to there pre 9/11 days. Then our President decided he wanted to protect us from another day like that so he had the testical fortitude to go after Iraq. Yes the original information we were given was wrong but the facts remained that once the economic sanctions were lifted Iraq would restart their nuclear, chemical and biological programs. Yes Iraq turned out to not be a huge immediate threat but they were a threat that remained for my children. What will it take to wake up Americans and realize in order to crush these animals we have to take the fight to them? As sad as this is will it take another 9/11? Plus do you want these threats to remain in this world for your children and grandchildren to deal with?

The Army is like all organizations in America, required to follow certain manpower rules. During a peacetime mission, in a non-combat zone(CONUS), what is the hours to rest ratio the military leadership must follow. What is the Regulation(AR) that applies to this rule. How many hours rest must a soldier be given after working a set number of hours. How does this effect a work week, month, etc.

Isn't that discrimination to single out disabled people from wanting to join? I'm disabled & desperate! to join the Air Force, and there are many people who are in the military & don't like it. I wish I could take their place.

you can join the military and kill people when you are 18. Though you cannot go into a bar, and enjoy a beer until you are 21.

Thats grim, you cant go to a bar after you get your legs blown off. From a roadside bomb.

My daughter left this afternoon, and is now in Great Lakes Illinois at the Naval training center. Just wondered if anyone else had this experience recently. No contact for a couple of weeks, and I will be on pins & needles waiting to hear from her. I will worry how she is getting along. I also would like to write her, but have no clue of her address. Any answers??
