An extensive nuclear war is unlikely. The thing that scares me is a non-state sponsered group having access to a nuclear weapon.
Any nation with nuclear weapons understands that their use would result in a response in kind. This was the center point oo which the MAD policy of the Cold War was based. No nation would use nuclear weapons for fear of having them used on them in response.
A non-State entity would not have any fear of a retaliation in kind. Imagine if Hezboallah were to use a low yield atomic weapon in Tel Aviv. Israel could not respond in kind for it would be difficult to know where to strike. An atomic strike in Lebanon would have little impact on the Hezboallah as a whole and would cause more political and ecological repercussions as to have no benefit.
As a side note, the chanes of a nation giving an atomic weapon to a non-state entity is slim. Most nation, even Iran, know that these groups have no national loyalty and would not hesitate to use the weapon against the coutry which provided it if they saw an advantage to do so. Also there is always the risk that a nation targeted in such a way would find the source of weapon. The risk of a nuclear retaliation would still exist.
A thing to fear more than nuclear weapons at this time would be "dirty" bombs. You do not need an atomic blast to spread radioactive material. Non-weapon grade material is just as harmful and much easier for a non-state group to access. The blast and heat damage would be much less than even the smallest of atomic weapons, however the radation fallout would linger for years possibly makes areas uninhabitible.

Yes, a nuclear war would be diastrous. Millions would die. I can't think of anything more horrific. Have you ever seen either "The Day After or Threads". Both of those movies deal with what life would be like after a nuclear attack. Pretty ugly.!!

Actually the world has gorgoten the effect of a single low power
nuclier explosion so in the nuclier holacaust that will follow the
world must prepare for thousands of super power nuclier
missiles. But in a nuclier explosion you just evaporate and
feel a 1/4 second of pain. But Im not really afraid of death.
The thing is that Im afraid of pain. So Biological weapons
and chemical weapons are a problem. Thet can spread
disease that can slowly rot of your skin while you beg the
emergency doctor to kill you.

Of course it does. So does Chemical and biological. What scares me the most are the countries out there that have a very low regard to human life.

Being in my 40's--not at all! Things seem to work out no matter how crazy it gets. And being in the USA-we can turn the entire planet to a glowing ember--so why worry about things I have absolutely NO CONTROL OVER!! Live life to the fullest-be honest and have a little fun--tomorrow will take care of itself!

It IS scary, but I don't let it SCARE me, because that is a waste of time. If it happens, there is nothing to stop it, so I just live my life to the fullest and hope for the best.
Also, hopefully, Chuck Norris can somehow intercept it.
