How much time you have will depend on your duty station and your job (MOS). There is always field time and ranges, not to mention being deployed. If you're deployed, you can count on that being a year and with luck, you'll get 15 days R&R about half way through. There's also unaccompanied tours to areas like Korea. That's a year at a time. You'll be given your 2.5 days of leave each month that you can save up and use as you want. You can save up to 90 days, but most units won't let you take all that at once. At times, it's hard to even take 30 days at a time. You also get federal holidays and "training" holidays. Your time with your family will be what you make it. Don't expect alot though. It is the Army and it can be a darn good life, although rough at times.

Congrats on your choice to join the Army. Good luck!!

Joining the Army is a good choice, but the time away from your family partly depends on your MOS (job) within the Army. Is an infantryman I spend time away whenever I go out to the woods for training, away to a school, or I am deployed. Other than that it's pretty much a normal work day, you get off in the evening and go home. Deployments are pretty long and frequent now, so figure out what you want to do for a job before you sign up. Best thing is to do some research on your own about what you are interested in, don't just go by what a recruiter tells you. And don't believe all the BS about the Marines either, the Army has a lot more to offer.

Not Very Much, Especially If We're In A War. But When You Have Free Time You Can Call Or E-Mail. Sometimes You Get Days Off To Visit Your Family. Good Luck And I Hope This Helped!

It will depend on what kind of job you will be doing. You wont be able to take them with you to basic but after that they should be able to move with you to whatever post you get assigned. If you are not at deployed a typical day would be from 600 am or maybe a little earlier to 5;00 pm (Army time, wich means it can be a anytime after that ) and then you should be able to go home.
Sometimes youlll have to work weekends, sometimes youll be away for home weeks. Just make sure youre wife and kids are aware of this and are flexible. it takes a very independant outgoing, strong kind of person to be a military wife. Consider thatover the course of the years youll be moving every three to five years more or less and youll be away from family and friends and your kids will be going to different schools and your wife will be changing jobs with every move wich can be a little frustrating.
Good luck to you and your family. God Bless

Join the Air Force! It's a whole lot better and you will have a lot of time with your family. Also you can travel the world and see different things. My husband joined the Air Force almost 2 years ago. We got married right after boot camp and he was at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS for the first few months of training and schooling. Then on Aug 10th we moved to our very FIRST base KADENA AFB in Okinawa Japan. How cool is that? We love it here and I love being an Air Force Wife! I get to see my Husband a lot and he has yet to go on any TDY's or anything like that. I'm sure its not like that for all the people here. Lots of my friends husbands leave more. It all depends on your job. But good luck!

I have been with my husband in Germany since July. He was gone for 3 months towards the end of the year then got deployed in Jan. R&R is only 15 days not much to make up for the year he is gone. As long as u have a strong marriage. Everything will work out

You earn 2.5 days a month vacation time and can save up to a maximum of 90 days.

When ever you are not on duty or on field training exercises or Iraq, you will be allowed to be with your family.

I wonder which family you're talking about. If you're talking about your bothers, sisters, mother and dad. You get plenty of leave time to come home and visit. You'll miss a lot of stuff but its not a bad life for a single person.

If you're talking about wife and kids that's a lot tougher. Although I have a nephew in the Air Force him and his wife and young daughter are doing quite well.

depends what you are talking about..many jobs in the armed forces are 9-5...with an occasional over night duty..if you get deployed than you get no time withfamily..you earn 2.5 days of leave for every month you serve but are only allowed to use it if approved for leave, depends on manpower needs and the needs of the service
