Seems like we keep going in circles on this question.
Women are not allowed in Combat Arms. With exceptions like pilots and support roles as pointed out by other answerers.
Without going into the physiological and psychological makeup of why most women are not capable of the task, which seems to be a great answering point of most there are a few other reasons.
Our country does not use women in these roles because of how it looks. Call it Political Correctness if you want, whatever. As such we also do not draft women for the Armed Services either. I know that there is no draft right now but they don't sign up for selective service right now, same thing.
Two examples I have used to answer this question with in the past is.
In many parts of the world, especially places where we are doing a lot of fighting, men rule the roost. If you had a women in a group of men that were supposed to be fighters, it would draw attention to you. Not a good thing if you are trying to blend in.
The environments that these men work in are not the cleanest of places. When you are in a hide for days or weeks at a time, there is no place to clean up properly. If you are spending a lot of time emerged in water (dirty water, feces infested water) the things that make women what they are can and will get infected, making you a casualty, thereby ruining the mission.
Anyway, it would be cheap to give our men and women any less than they deserve and cause them to needlessly die just because it was unfair treatment to not let the women get to play tough guy just to prove a point.
BTW, I can't have children, but I do not think it is cheap, just the way I was made.

No!!!! I'm not trying to be antagonistic.
Few men can pass the physical standards. There are probable a few women that could pass them also.
Biologically we are different. Are hips are shaped differently. This actually affects how fast we can run. Certain anatomical differences make us way more prone to infections that could jeopardize a mission.
Some jobs should not be opened to female participation just because it's politically correct to do so.
Ask yourself how far someone that weighs 115 LBS will be able to carry someone that weighs 180 lbs.
I haven't even addressed the psychological reasoning behind not placing men and women into combat roles together. People form attachments that could also jeopardize the mission.
It's not CHEAP. And it has nothing to do with how tough a person is. It's just not practical.

No. Navy does not allow women to try out for SEAL. It's a super intensive program, guys have to do 10 times more than human body can take. Physiologically a woman's body can not withstand such stress.

At this time the policy is no females. The SEAL teams have to be able to travel a long way in close/ cramped quarters that allow for no privacy as are required by DoD reg. when male and female troops are travelling together. The teams often travel by submarine and no females are allowed on submarines on operational missions.

cheap if we couldn't????? What exactly does that mean? Sister if you can pass the stuff that they go through then all the more power to you. but if you just have a chip on your shoulder saying i am a girl why won't they let me do it...wrong business.
and yes you get that rush of wanting to do it after GI Jane.... I did to but I also wanted to be a fighter pilot after watching Top Gun but I have done neither.
However... I am a firefighter and I put my money where my mouth is and 6 years later I am still doing it.
You want to be a seal..... do something about it

No. Women in the US military are still not allowed in ground combat roles. No SEALS, Rangers or any other special forces. Not even tanks or combat infantry. Support roles only. The only combat roles women are allowed are combat pilots (bombers, fighters, apaches, etc) and even that is fairly recent and with some debate.

there was a bikg movie like 10 years ago with demi moore becoming a navy seal. i dont think it was a true story. But once you are in the NAVY you are "supposed" to be eligable to all positoins wance you meet requirements. ofcourse there are non written rules. but more power too if thats what you wissh to become.

nope, im in the military, and the answer is no, because of the following reason.
if the female got intro trouble, the males would want to help her out, and that would cause mission devaition, the timing would get all screwed up, and other seals may possibly die trying to save her.

Assuming for sure that NSW ever opens up that position for ladies human beings, evaluate right here: - decrease than 20% of girls human beings at present in the provider can meet the minimum actual criteria for men to affix the protection stress. - The minimum criteria to affix the SEALs are slightly harder than that of the customary army. - the boys that bypass decision were appearing properly above those criteria.

theres no way you could handle it ... and that is just reality.... the only way you could as a woman is if they lowered the standards of physical requirement and i dont think we want to do that ....those guys are the ones we count on to get into impossible places and save the world from destruction ....
