A cousin of my friend was actually involved in some kind of 'fake cop' incident back east.

The guy was wearing clothing that somewhat resembled that of the local police, drove a crown vic, but with no siren or lights...just had some kind of red light on the dash, so she figured he was undercover or an unmarked car and pulled over.

I guess the guy turned out to be a phony, and got scared off when a real police officer drove by.

If you think someone isn't a genuine police officer, are you allowed to ask him for his identification? Like, badge number and such? Or will that just piss the cop off?

So I applied for a local police officer position... well I passed the initial oral interview, the medical screening, the agilty test and during the agility test we got fitted for uniforms. Well the last step was an interview with the Police Chief.. well it was about 10 minutes long, the Chief spoke about the benefits, rookie school, what he expects from us, and also 4-5 people out of about 14 won't be hired. He said he would call me by Saturday and let me know if I get a job offer.. After the interview we were sent back across the street where we were "fitted" for uniforms again, and also guys were calling us new recruits..

However, if we don't officially have the job yet, why were we being fitted for uniforms? And making it all the way to the Chief's interview? Do I have a shot at this or no?

I'm sure all police are family, and brothers etc. But do some police department get jealous of another department, or is there ever a little competitions going on? Especially when in most county there is one 'best' department, for making a lot of arrests and keeping the streets safer.

okay i was at a little get together at an appartment and i guess someone called in for a noise complaint & the cops came around 10. my friend opened the door and saw it was the cops so she tried shutting it but they pushed it back and walked in without consent & then my friend who owns the appt. asked if they could talk out in the hallway which he said no. which is a lie, because they couldve talked out in the hallway. they told us they were outside the door listening to our convo for the past 20 min. which i think isn't right. if after the first 5-10 min. they didnt suspect anything, they should have to leave. they didnt have a search warrent. he walked right in. he made me and this other girl take a breathalyzer but the other 3 dint have to which is unfair. he gave all of us tickets. im thinking of pleading not guilty under the circumstances. i think they should have better things to do like go do the world some good and find some kids who do heroin..not a couple of girls hanging out

Ok, my high school caught on fire about 4 hours ago. NO JOKE!

The west gym was on fire and the flames were coming out of the windows.

Anyways, when no one was looking I snuck into the side doors where there wasn't anyone.

I got some video of the first floor, but I wanted to get some of the burn gym, and the hallway was dark so all I had to see was the little light on my video camera.

As I was walking down the hallway into the gym, the middle school principle (who is a serious a**hole!!) stopped me and I told him I was getting some video for the records.

He told me I had to leave because it was illegal and I should leave before the cops saw me in there.

I have a relative who works with the state, and they've never heard of such a law before.

The doors did NOT have police take by or through them.

And another thing, if it's illegal, then why the hell was he in there?!?!?!

I’m writing this in part to ask for opinions, and also to alert others of a potential scam at the pumps. If this happens to you, be prepared and have a plan of action so not to pay twice.
I stopped at a Country Store today and began pumping gas using my credit card. After $8.41/2.47 gallons of gas went into my tank, the pump stopped abruptly and the screen stated “transaction stopped.”
A forty something frumpy cashier came out and demanded cash payment. She was mean and intimidating indicating the card transaction was cancelled and I have to pay cash.
She was cold and abrupt when I stated the pump stated $8.41 did infuse. The pump would not give me a receipt either because something stopped all actions.
She was adamant that no payment was received. I paid that amount in cash and left.
I stopped less than a block away and decided to call my credit card to make sure I was not charged twice. I was told that that “Country Store” did place $1 on hold and verified the amount that will be deducted from my account when it goes through.
I went back to the store and told the cashier it did go through, she became angry and said it did not and there is nothing she can do. I asked her to tell the credit card service person and she refused to talk to them. I asked for the manager and she said she was the manager. I asked for a receipt if not from the register, then hand written with her signature on it. She then called the owner and denied refusing to talk to my credit card service person. (There were many customers beginning to fill the store at this point). At this point she did print out a copy of the cash payment that did indicate the time of the transaction, but no cashier number.
Finally she did talk to the credit card service person who assured her the payment went through, she said it did not and refused to authorize my credit card to cancel the transaction stating it did not go through and there is nothing to cancel.
The credit card service person told me and her, via the phone, that the store stopped the pump not the credit card company. My credit card service person told me to wait two days and when/if it shows on my card file a fraud complaint, which I told her I am going to do if the payment is not removed. I was polite and apologized for any misunderstanding that may have occurred.
My card worked fine twenty minutes later when I stopped to buy some groceries.
My questions to you:
1) Do you think this was an honest mistake?
2) Is there a way for her to collect the money at the end of the day of anyone who doesn’t catch this mistake if she is stopping the pumps at the register and demanding cash?
3) If this happens ever again, I will not pay cash. Should I call the police?

I will espeically like to hear answers from other parents who are gun-owners to hear what they did but any opinion or advice is welcome.

I just had everything finalized in my gun permit and I now am allowed to own a revolver. I have 2 boys; one is 15 and the other is 9. Should my children know that their dad has a gun in the house? Should I teach them personally about gun safety and be open to them about it?

Of course I will not tell them where I keep it. Maybe my older son when he gets a little older and I sense he is responsible. My younger one is definitely not ready for that yet.
