I didn't get tested for the first 7 or more months, but I did get tested in a forced rehab for alcohol about a month and a half after I was put on probation. I have never failed a drug test with probation, but I don't use drugs. I was given a drug test three times in less than a week or two though when it was reported that I was on drugs by some people. I passed every test because, like I said, I don't use drugs.
It is a coin toss if you will be tested or not. I think even if you fail this first time you won't go to prison. But if you fail you might have to go to N.A. classes for a while, or to an in patient rehab depending on how strict your probation officer is.
Make sure and sober up off of everything for probation. And remember to keep a good relationship with your probation officer. That is the most important thing to remember.

yes here are some steps
Know your rights. Know detection periods for the drugs you are using. For example, alcohol is detectable for 12-24 hours after consumption using a standard EMIT drug test, and can be detected up to five days after usage with an ethyl gluconuride urine test. Cannabis (marijuana) can stay in the system anywhere between 2-3 days to 12 weeks (with 2 weeks being the norm), depending on frequency of use. Methamphetamines are reputed to have a detection period somewhere between 3 and 5 days. Try to take the test as late as possible.
Drink plenty of water before the test. This will dilute the urine, making it difficult for the testing service to get reliable results. They might want you to provide them with a new sample, by which time, detectable quantities of the substances might have passed out of the system. You may also go to a store such as GNC, they have drinks there filled with B vitamins, you must also drink about a gallon of water to make sure. This is a definite pass. Beware though, a diluted urine sample is rather like a red flag. They may request another sample but it is possible that as opposed to a simple urine sample they may require a hair or blood sample. This may particularly be the case if you are involved in some type of court ordered drug testing program.
Create false positives by taking over the counter medication, e.g Tylenol. This, like in step 2, will interfere with the ability of the testing service to provide accurate results. Do not take more than the recommended daily allowance of Tylenol. This can have very serious effects on your liver and can be fatal, even if you don't feel ill, or notice any symptoms.
If you have been doing opiates, tell them you had a poppy seed bagel or two. This can create a false positive for opiates. (Do not actually eat poppy seed bagels)
Drink lots (2 gallons) of cranberry juice if you have been doing cocaine and you can get it out of your system in a day.
Substitute your urine for some synthetic urine (e.g. Quick Fix or Ultra Pure) and make sure it is the recommended temperature range of 94°-100°F

If you were a probation officer and you had your first meeting with someone who is on probation for theft what would you do? In fact, they are required under law to test you. If you really want to feel comfortable about your first meeting with him or her then don't do any drugs.

Probably. They have the right to do so, every time they visit you. That's why they call it probation. You are still technically under arrest, just not in a jail cell. They can walk in your house, unannounced, day or night, and there is nothing you can do about it.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do. Did you get your warrant cleared up from your prior question? You are worried about drug testing and aren't completing your court commitments. If you don't shape up, your chances of successfully completing probation are pretty slim.

Yes they probably will at your first meeting but they won't at every meeting but they won't tell you when they will do it. They can surprise you at any time, they can come to your school, home or job and test you. You need to make sure you are clean every time or they can lock you back up
