In VA, is there a pacing law stating how long a police officer may follow you after being caught for speeding?

Grapevine said 1 mile, but I haven't been able to find anything about it. If you could help I'd really appreciate it!

I don't live in VA, so i don't really know, but i have never heard of this rule. Police officers, especially county or state officers that my work outside of city limits, will often follow a car that has committed a violation for miles. They will do that so they can find a suitable area to pull you over. By suitable i mean safe for all parties involved. Usually a well lit area that has plenty of passing traffic, but has sufficient shoulder space to protect the officer when he gets out of his car.

I have one year to file criminal charges on traffic violations I observe.

So as long as I don't follow you for a year, I can still write the ticket.

I don't know about that but unfortunately your state has criminalized minor traffic violations thanks to the state's most powerful traffic defense lawyer. Now for nearly all traffic citations you need a lawyer to represent you in court.

after you have been caught for speeding isn't it too late to worry about pacing
