I think most of them are pretty normal when they first get started, but when they realize how much fun it is to push around the ignorant masses who respect them, the power goes to their heads, and they corrupt.

Not generally. Some of them get through and last a while, but we tend to catch most of them in the screening process, and the rest don't typically last long.

To some degree I think that's true. You get a lot of macho egotists that like having power over others. But also the job has a way of changing people since they are always having to deal with the scum of the earth. I think it hardens them. One of my best friends was a cop in a big city and some of his personality just had to be overlooked. I wouldn't want his job!

I see it all the time with law enforcement and military too.
Sometime you get a true do gooder but almost everyone i ever talked with who wanted to join or who already was serving in the military or Police was either on a trip to prove there manhood or
liked being in a position of power over others in other countries a few joined simply for a steady job.
I have talked to at least 300 police and military men on a personal level here and abroad .
