Just got a parking ticket - £60!
The notice at the meter had the prices per hour and the words 'no change given'.
It was £2.40 for 3 hours but I paid £3 (and did not receieve change)
I recieved the parking ticket for exceeding 3 hours (by only minutes) even though I had paid in excess of 3 hours.
The notice did not say 'no change given and no extra time given for added payment'!!!!
Is this legal? Has anyone appealed successfully for a similar case?

I'm writing a paper about the bans on "sagging." I'm worried that a guy out on parole, who has given up drugs and committing real crimes, could go back to jail if he is convicted of sagging. Is that possible?

everything you earn thing, and reporting in to a probation officer once a month. Well this P.O. is very rude. She has made my friend cry on more than one occassion. My question is, what is the job of the probation officer? Is it to make sure that person doesn't do well? I have been trying to help my friend find a job but with a felony, it is hard. She didn't murder anyone and she is such a sweet person. I am just so concerned because she isn't seeing any hope in having a shot at a normal life. Where might she be able to go to find a job that will hire someone that has a felony? Please don't say she is a loser and doesn't deserve a seconed chance, because that is NOT the case. She made a mistake, a mistake that any one of us could be facing. Three drinks with dinner, hit someone, felony dwi. If you only have mean words to offer, please move on to the next question to where you might actually be able to help. Thank you.

I recently took a friend of mine home in Inglewood, Ca. There was an accident on the corner of two streets blocking the two lanes to go forward, cops everywhere. My friend (an older man that has been driving for longer than I have been alive), said to go around, cause we needed to go straight. Now, I did think about that when he said it;cause there were no flares, no cones, and no police officers signaling traffic, nothing.. so I went around. As soon as I went around, I heard a cop yell at me to pull over, so I did. He comes around the passenger side and yells at me "in what world does it say its okay to drive on the wrong side of the street!?" My friend actually had to wipe the spit off the side of his face. Along with spitting in my friends face, he insulted my intelligence, and yelled at me cause I drove on the wrong side of the street for half a second. Is this going too far?

I got pulled over last night, and the car got towed. But . . . I was at a red light, and I was stopped when I noticed the cop pull up next to me. The light turned green and I started to go, and I got maybe like 5 feet away from the green light, accelerating as much as the person next to me, and then the cop pulled me over. I gave him my license and regestration, and come to find out the car wasn't registered. The car wasn't mine, but what I'm trying to get at is did he have any reason to pull me over in the first place? Or was his reasoning because I'm a young girl driving at 10 at night on Labor Day?

Always, we have to do what they say and get beaten up if we argue, they appear to be people who have not got the guts to join the military, they are in the main ignorant and just want to hassle as many people as they can.

My husband was driving down a residentual street and a lady backed out of her driveway and backed into him. The back of her car hit the side of his truck.
Who's at fault and who gets the ticket??

The police gave my husband the ticket. They didnt' see the accident and claimed he was speeding. My husband said he wasn't.
The cop gave my husband a ticket for improper passing and the lady didnt' get a ticket.
Shouldn't it be the other way around. Shouldn't the lady get the ticket?

i got accused of running a traffic light and colliding with a vehicle at the junction. a witness said i went through the light. as far as i was aware the light was green when i went through it. The police siad i could be charged for a traffic offence of 3 points and 60pounds fine for going through a red light. Is it illegal to have that many syringes at home?
These syringes will not be for illegal use.
Could the cops search the house and arrest the owner and charge him?

I keep reading and hearing how the laws are there to "protect" me and keep me safe, etc. Yet, in many, if not all, situations the "criminal's" rights are always the focus of concern rather than the victims' rights...even if the crime is caught on tape. If I attempt to fight back, I become the "bad" guy. Of course, I suppose protecting a corpse is infinately easier than protecting the living.

I guess I should simply wave a copy of the law at a person attacking me for protection...right? Think that'll work?

In light of international terrorism and extremism governments are choosing to sacrifice freedom, privacy and liberty in order to make our lives safer.

This means scanned emails, phone calls, cefus, restricted zones, or even stalking by Law Enforcement agencies (if necessary). All this for our safety.

"Take away some of my freedom and give me a bit more of security" some say. Do you agree?

I am 23, male clean record and a high school diploma. After high school, I've been living with off my parents & didn't work. I mostly stay home & watch movies or play video games. I don't have that much friends either.

I realize that when I socialize, I feel like I am a little off. That's why I try to avoid socialization, especially with strange people.
But ever since about 4 years ago, after seeing the movie SWAT, II've always wanted & dreamt about becoming a police officer.

Should I try it out? Do you think I would make a good police officer? Do you think the police training will transform me from a little off shy person in to a good police officer with strong leadership characteristic?

Hi,

I was at a bar in San Francisco and I blacked out (I think I may have been drugged as this is every uncharacteristic of me) - I know I was taken to the hospital by the police and they gave me a form that said I was released to the hospital on a 647-F (RWS) which I understand means release when sober - I don't think they gave me a formal citation but I wanted to find out for sure, does anyone have any suggestions? When I called the police station, they said they couldn't give that info out but that because it said RWS that is an indication that there was no formal citation - does anyone know if that is true? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

What is the exact proceedure for purchasing a firearm in the state of PA? Is there waiting periods???

The reason why I am asking is I have bought a .38 and I am worried that the armory I bought it from did not register the weapon under my name... I also wonder if they ever did a background check on me. I walked in picked a gun and 1 hour later I walked out with that gun. Is this legal? I heard from someone that I should have had to wait 7 days... I am truely scared that I could get in trouble with this gun... HELP!!! And it was from a REAL gun dealer... They have been around for over a decade, my father used to shop there when I was little.
