I am 23, male clean record and a high school diploma. After high school, I've been living with off my parents & didn't work. I mostly stay home & watch movies or play video games. I don't have that much friends either.

I realize that when I socialize, I feel like I am a little off. That's why I try to avoid socialization, especially with strange people.
But ever since about 4 years ago, after seeing the movie SWAT, II've always wanted & dreamt about becoming a police officer.

Should I try it out? Do you think I would make a good police officer? Do you think the police training will transform me from a little off shy person in to a good police officer with strong leadership characteristic?

as long as your considering, "being a little off",just lacking in social skills, its fine. if you are a little off in some off beat areas, like you are into kiddie porn, or necrophilia,or bestiality........those are some serious off things to be scared of. if you are just a social outcast, cuz you lack the social skills, that is fine. follow thru with your dreams. if you are off because of those serious things i mentioned, please do us all a favor and dont join the force.

This is a big question! If you're looking for a career that ensures with the minimum of effort, a decent pay, where the only requirement is obedience, then you make a wise choice. Being a police officer obviously has it's attractions. But on the other hand, I take it as a given that your choice to pursue the subject of Law is a morally and ethically correct one, that is to say, it stems from the idea of protecting and enhancing the values of our society. But Law and policing the law are two very different roles. It's very important to be aware of this. Don't blindly believe that being in the police necessarily puts you on the side of justice. And as long as you are aware of that and still think it's a good choice then you are a reverential officer. Unfortunately for you, only acting out of reverence for someone else's orders, should you disagree, because the moment you do disagree should be the moment you start wondering wether you're really making this society any better, wether you really are doing what you joined to do and who or what exactly it is that your 'serving and protecting' Other than that, looks alright, good pay for a 19 year old!

If you want to do it, go for it. But be sure that's what you want. It costs money to put yourself through school. It also costs a lot of money for a department to train you and buy your supplies for it to not work out. You have to be assertive as a police officer. You have to take control of a situation. While you are in training, you will have support from your Field Training Officer, but there will come a time when you will be all on your own in the middle of a fight or a baby not breathing and you will have to handle it on your own until back-up arrives.

You won't be able to join a P.D. and go straight to the SWAT team either. You'll have to work patrol and take calls like all rookies do. Depending on the size of the department, SWAT may just be an additional duty. It might not be your full time gig. In our department everyone is assigned to either patrol, street crimes (narcotics), traffic, or investigations. That is what they do full time, then if they want to volunteer for SWAT, they can and have extra training for it, but are very seldom called out.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do!

Sure but remember you are a servant of the People and not the other way around. When you join the government you give up rights and your citizenship. By constitutional law you loose the right to vote as well.
When you vote it is under statutory law not constitutional law
