I keep reading and hearing how the laws are there to "protect" me and keep me safe, etc. Yet, in many, if not all, situations the "criminal's" rights are always the focus of concern rather than the victims' rights...even if the crime is caught on tape. If I attempt to fight back, I become the "bad" guy. Of course, I suppose protecting a corpse is infinately easier than protecting the living.

I guess I should simply wave a copy of the law at a person attacking me for protection...right? Think that'll work?

It doesn't, at least not in that sense. Courts throughout the U.S. have repeatedly ruled that the police are not actually obligated to protect individuals, the law only exists to protect society at large. The only time an individual citizen has guaranteed police protection is if he's the President or some other public figure who has a contract with them.

You could try that...or try waving a copy of a bible at them...or a cross...or just make a cross out of something and hold ot up, like they do in the vampire movies...
Why not start reciting Psalm 23 like the guy in the War of the Worlds movie? Or Psalm 91? As a matter of fact, read Psalm 91 now, and see if that pertains to your question. I've become quite attached to that one, myself. Then, flip the numbers around and read psalms 19 and 32...amazingly enough, you'll find that they compliment their counterparts! I used to think about stuff like this, but now I don't much anymore...that is, until you brought it up here.

What the law [ police ] WILL do is investigate the site where
you were killed with great energy and all of the highest forensic technology available. Rest assured.
You're on your own...but that's no news- it's always been
that way.

''Law'' isnt for protection. Ä°t's just for punishment. Ä°n a case that u have to defense yourself law has nothing to do. You will defense yourself but if u do something against law, dont forget you will get punished..

That's why gun control laws that target law-abiding citizens are a bad thing. (-1-1 is nothing more than government-sponsored Dial-A-Prayer.
