How much money have you got to fight for 60 pence ?
It really does P me off the way councils can do this it should not be impossible ffor them to add a little bit of time to your overpayment with a maximum time. it os little dodges like this that I will always hand over an unexxpired ticket to an incoming motorist if there is more than an hour left on it.
In respect of you r question pay up and look happy

It would be a very interesting test case but I think you would be wasting your time. However, could it not be argued like this? Has the council stolen your extra 60p? If no change is given then it should accept exact money only. Like a cigarette or drinks vending machine it should not allow over payments unless it will credit the time. Hmmm actually I think you may have a case here. Not through the parking adjudication service because the ticket was correctly issued by the warden. But you could bring a case in court against the council.

Pay it quickly and learn from it, you can always appeal after you have paid. If you try to appeal first I do not think they will look at it so favourably and the price goes up if you don;t pay it quickly anyhow. Didn't get caught speeding on the way home as well did you lol? (sorry but couldn't resist it).

I am with you 100%, its f**g outrageous. I got a ticket on my birthday in london for praking in residents parking only, when ironically unloading tools out of a van for work at a residents house. I appealled and won, but was worried that a £60 would seem 'cheap' if i lost and it doubled up. But I was so enraged with it id have rather done time.
I like to fight these b*t*ds head on, but its not without its additional penalties. check out this link below, of how a £95 fine soon turned into £1000 with outrageous charges by the private firm employed by the courts to pursue the case. Your MP might well be able to help if it was on the public highways since he could write to the minister for transport and quosh it from above. I bet somewhere on the fine it says " if you pay the fine you accept you are liable and waive your right to challenge". we should all stand tall and fight this sort of thing, its happened to you today, but it could be anyone of us tommorow. by the way traffic wardens write secret codes on tickets, on mine they wrote WAWC. this, i later found out means 'walked away when challenged' i caught her writing the ticket when i was unloading, she still ticketed me and wrote a secret code on the ticket, check yours too
this is straight truth:

You paid for three hours as thats the max allowed time. Once the three hours expired, you need to put additional change in. It stated no change given, you don't get "extra" time because you paid with bills, thats common sense. Pay your ticket.

Yes they are the rules. If the ticket was issued less than five minutes after the time run out then you have a chance.

What you should have done was come back before ticket expired and payed again. You can appeal against it, but i dont think you have a good chance.

Sorry, morally you are right, but legally you are wrong...you could write a letter in mitigation, but unless it says on some paperwork that you did pay £3 you have a problem, and even if you have, you have a problem.

make sure you pay for it before the reduction time, elapses and then you can try and get it off. i was a paramedic student, with alt of money problems and i accidently parked in the wrong place and was threatened with £80. i didnt think it would work, but i wrote a letter, explaining my troubles and saying it was not because of laziness and it was a genuine mistake and they surprisingly let me off, :) so good luck, its always worth a try...

Think you're probably stuck with it as you didnt pay enough for the next level eg £3.50 for 4hrs. If you over-pay you dont get extra minutes unfortunately!
