As usual a possible discussion point turns into a sweeping generalisation.
So, to answer in two parts,
A Police Officer will be confident in his judgement of a situation.
In almost all circumstances the public look to them for the answer and guidance in difficult situations-Fact!
Who wants to be in the middle of a major RTA with an Officer stood going "Ummmmm".
Nobody likes being told they are wrong, but we are here to enforce the law. I would hope if I was wrong I would hold my hands up accordingly.
As to your rant, I have never 'beaten' anyone up, why would I want to! You wouldn't last long in today's Police.
I was an Officer in the Royal Marines and infinitely prefer this job.
I gained good GCSE's and A levels and chose not to go to University.
I really don't want to hassle anyone, where's the satisfaction in that. I would rather help society and the City I live in and police. Why make enemies for the sake of it? It makes no sense. (and no I was never bullied at school-I know you prob think that as well)

Contrary to what you think, we're not always right. We are human beings and make mistakes like everyone else. Niether do I beat people up. Also I spent 8 years in the military prior to joining the job.
Everything you say is just a broad generalisation with no facts to back it up. Typical rubbish that we read on Yahoo answer today!!!!

personally, I have had a few bad run ins with the police where I needed help and instead got treated roughly and arrested. That said, i'm not against the idea of policing, if they do their job, which hardly any can be bothered to do beyond their tax, sorry, traffic/vehicle quota. I think that anyone who wants to be in the police should be subject to psychological examination because it seems to attract a certain type of personality that can hardly be conducive to peace keeping.Draft em and kick em out after a couple of years before they get jaded or corrupt. just my humble opinion.

because we are!!!!!!
we are taught the laws, and ways to enforce the laws....
we have cameras in our cars that record every stop we make. You will sue us and cry a story to a lawyer, and sue the department for brutallity, and excessive use of force ....etc, but the camera never lies.......LOL
its great to hear people complain, as usual, about thier local law enforcement, but who is the first person you call when you need help.....Thats correct, THE POLICE!!!!!
hey here is an idea. If you hate the police so much, next time you need help, call a crack dealer!!!!!

Most police officers are nice helpful people, if you are on the right side of the law.
sometimes you get police officers on a power trip who don't care if you are in the wrong or not, they just want to abuse their powers because they can.
My aunt was having problems with her neighbours once, they were arguing over something or other and the neighbours had police officers in their family, they got them to come around to her house and harrass her over stupid things like her car being too close to their driveway and her children making noise in her back garden, crimes? I Think not!
It was just purely abuse of power, because her neighbours hated her and had connections they could use, the same police even came to her house at 6 in the morning and forced her to move her car from the public road outside her house, because somebody (who was just visiting a house in the road) had parked opposite her blocking the road.
They made her leave her 4 children (all under ten) alone in the house and watched her move the car.
She made a complaint to the local station but nothing was ever done.
I have met nice officers, who have helped me carry my buggy down steps, who have directed me when I am lost and who have been sympathetic when I have reported crimes.
I have also met officers who are down right rude and in the wrong, and don't really care.
Most are in the job to assist and keep safe the community a minority are in it because of the status and power.

How is it then that I have always found the police helpful and considerate, but using very neutral language to avoid a confrontation. If you have been done for speeding you might as well throw up your hands and the same for parking. like you i do not like speed cameras on motorways and think they are only revenue earners.
