Muggings are up from 90,000 to 98,000 and the advice given is not to use portable phones and I-pods on the street, is this all we can hope for. Advice on hiding? Totally ridiculous, the British image takes another battering, why don't the police use those cctv cameras to watch crime spots or don't the cameras work so well in broad daylight. What about stop and searches? was a time when you would be stopped and searched for offensive weapons. The Goverment will protect you from 2nd hand smoke but not from blade attacks. Glad I dumped that country for a safer place.

I got pulled over last night for supposedly being on my mobile. The police past me going the other way i was doing about 50mph and so were they. I definatley was not on my phone, they checked my recently dialled and recieved calls of which there were none. But he was adamant that 'i saw the silver part of your phone up against your ear' which is an offence. So i got 3 points and £60 fine. How do i go about proving that i didnt do it, its my word against his in court. I asked vodafone if they log incoming calls but they dont. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

My friend drives a honda, and has those racing car parts added to his car. He's been pulled over several times, and has been asked to pop the hood of his car while the cops look to see if he has the illegal parts. He keeps getting the tickets, and getting pulled over.

But I want to know is it legal for a cop to pull you over and check the what's under the hood of your car? If he wasn't doing anything else that would have required him to be pulled over, is this legal? Can he refuse to pop his hood?
Any suggestions for getting around the law (besides taking the car parts out like I've suggested!)

Many judges violate the boundaries of their office by legislating from the bench. What can be done to deter abuse by judges that are essentially subversive to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution?

Would this be due to a parking enforcement officer faking information to avoid carrying out his duties? For example, they might simply select cars at random and fill in this information on the tickets.

3 years ago, the landlord bought this place, which I share with a room mate. He signed everything, all the bills are in his name. Now, we are being evicted (failure to pay rent) I have paid some bills and back rent in cash or MO. if and when we get evicted will I be held responsible for all the back rent? My name is no where on paper, but the landlord knows I live here. It is a year lease. A quit to pay rent eviction. The landlord wrote my name on eviction notice but again I did not sign a thing. Thank you.

I work at this retirement home and I get along with the assistant manager great. My co-workers all hate that because they think he favors me, so they got together and made up a story that I was dating the assistant manager. He and another manager called me into the office and questioned me about it I felt really hopeless, I felt like they were going against me. I did not appreciate that they had to talk to me about it. If anything I felt insulted. What can I do, I know that their statements are false? Is it consider Slander?

I will soon be testing for numerous Police Departments and I have some concerns regarding the background investigation. I have no felonies, no misdemeanors, one infraction from over a decade ago, and a couple of traffic tickets the last one being back in 2002. The problem is that back in my early twenties I used drugs on a regular basis. I have never used heroin or cocaine, but I did use meth and marijuana. I have not taken any type of illegal substance in almost ten years. For the past 6 years I have been employed as an EMT in a 911 setting, volunteered as a mentor to kids going through foster placement, and have graduated from college. I feel that I have done everything in my power to become a better person and a good candidate for employment as a police officer. The drug issue is really bothering me though. Do I have a chance? I know that this is a frequently asked question. Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks guys!

A close friend of the family got mixed up with drugs and never got off. He stole items from a grocery store and that was why he was put on parole. Just recently he was caught as an assessory to another retail theft. He is in jail now and I don't want to bother his mother with all the legal stuff. Any answers will be appreciated since I see him as a little brother and I couldn't help him stay off the drugs after countly times of different kinds of intervention.
