Not only should it be, but it is... Court TV. Not only that but most any courtroom in the US is open to the public and we can come in and go out as we please. It's public domain and unless sealed by a judge, the hearings are public information.

Yes, this is protected by the federal Constitution, (maybe not tv). But public trials are neccesary. It is important that closed door trials are not allowed where anything can happen and the reverse is reported to the general public. This is why people were against military tribunals for the Taliban detainees,

In my opininon if you don't want to be publicly humiliated like that, don't commit the crime. In my opinion though, it should be televised. Criminal as well as all trials are a matter of public information, if you can access the transcripts, then you should be able to view the trial. HOWEVER, that is with reason, a judge can censor what is seen if it is classified evidence.
