i was hoping a lawyer or someone similiar could give me some advice on this. my girlfriend is 18 years old (she turns 19 in one week) and she recently got her ohio learners permit. she went to the store by herself yesterday and ran out of gas. she was alone on the road and a cop stopped by and asked for her license and of course she only had her permit. he gave her a ticket and a court date that she must attend, one day after her 19th birthday. i know it was stupid of her to do that and she will get in some trouble but my question is what can she do about it in the meantime as well as on the court date to keep the trouble to a minimum? is there anyway of doing anything to stop from not letting her get her license for a while? we would be fine with any type of fine to pay but i do not want her to lose the ability to get her license soon as we need it for her to be able to go to work. i do need serious advice though and it is much appreciated! thanks in advance.

to me. One witness is an undercover cop who witnessed the whole thing. my car has been taken to forensics, but what happens now?? i have just started uni i'm 18 and very scared. what is the law????

Just saw the movie "Zodiac" and it got me thinking... how many serial killers might still be active world wide?
Are citizens less aware of them because officials have stopped giving information to the press?
It seems like the news does not cover these things with nearly as much sensationalism as they used to....
It also seems that if someone kills a few people - it's not considered very newsworthy a month later...

Are we blind to these murders or are they just not happening anymore?

Those cop movies where the cops dab cocaine on the tip of their tongues to see if it's real coke or not, I heard that they don't do that in real life. Is that true, if so, how do they tell if it's coke or not?

Recently I was pulled over in Washington State for failure to yield at one of those lights that has a turn lane that has a green arrow and yellow. After the yellow goes off you must yield to oncoming traffic. Anyways the officer wrote the ticket as a failure to obey a traffic device. Really it was failure to yield, i had to explain this to the officer , the officer agreed but said he couldn't change it because he had already written it out for running a red light. My question is when I go to court does this automatically get dropped because it was written for the wrong thing? I hope it does because I have a perfect driving record...Any other suggestion?

I was a witness to an accident early last week. I reported it to 911, and a police officer has contacted me to write a statement to be sent via email. What information do I need to include, how formal does it need to be, and what is the best format to write it in (ie. full sentences, story-like, etc.)?

I want to become a cop in the future and i really want to know more about law enforcement. So it be nice if someone can answer all my questions.

1. Say i am driving the Police car, i get a call, and i am on the way to the location but i get lost, would i get in trouble?

I just received a letter telling me that I passed the written exam for my local police department (to be a police officer). The next step is an oral interview.

I haven't interviewed for a job in over 5 years and I have NEVER interviewed for a Law Enforcement position before. Does anyone have any tips to help me get through my oral interview with flying colors?
