Here's a taster from ABC Rural, Seems things have changed:

New laws on trespassing - Kathy Cogo
A big dog, some nasty signs and verbal threats do little to deter some people from coming onto your farm. But under a Summary Offences Bill introduced into Queensland Parliament, it's now illegal to trespass on agricultural land or leave gates open. Up until now that sign on the gate that says 'trespassers will be prosecuted' really had no legal clout.. it probably worked well as a threat, perhaps only if it was large and scary enough... and supported by a few bullet holes! But that's about to change now police have the powers to charge trespassers. Member for Burdekin, Rosemary Menkens, says the changes give a certain amount of power to landholders. The legislative changes have been welcomed by landholders who are frustrated with the public's disrespect towards private property. Grazier, Glen Rae, says he doesn't allow shooters onto the property but they come on anyway. Keeping trespassers off your property when there are no clear barriers like fences is a bit more difficult. Cane farmer Kent Fowler is in this situation and reckons he cops the occasional motorbike hoon. He's hopeful the legislation will at least give him more power to prosecute if need be.
