If you pay the ticket, you don't have to go to court. If the amount of the fine is not on the ticket, then figure out which agency gave you the ticket -- County Sheriff, Highway Patrol, or City Police Department. If it was the Sheriff or Highway Patrol, then you need to contact the court clerks office of the county you were in when you got the ticket. If it was a city police department, contact that city's City Hall. Be sure and pay the ticket promptly or a warrant will be issued for you. Your license won't be suspended unless you don't pay the ticket. Make it a general rule to not go more than 5-10 mph over the limit and you shouldn't get anymore tickets, no matter what time of day it is.

If your under the age of 18 the judge probably wouldn't think twice about taking your license away. If you're over 18 odds are that you won't loose your license. If your under 18 everyone in your state probably has to go to court regardless of what the citation is. Here is some tips as to what will probably happen when you go to court: You will be asked how you plea to the charge and just plea no contest. The judge may ask you why you was going so fast or something of the nature and then he will probably render you a verdict of a fine + court fees. Which, will probably be some where around $100.

Count on 3 points and about $230 ticket.

There is always driving school, though. Talk to the court house about it. They can help. You won't get your license suspended.

Here is a rule of thumb that I learned...

On the Bluegrass Parkway, you can go 79 mph without attracting the attention of the State Police. Once you hit 80 though, it's game on.

If you are lucky they'll let you attend drivers school. In my state, you would lose your license for life. If you get a fine, it's going to be a little spendy. Try a yahoo search for Kentucky speeding tickets. Good luck.

Expect the fine and assesments to cost from $300 to $500. Your license will probably not be suspended, but BE TOTALLY COURTEOUS to the judge. If you say anything to tick him off, you may even to go to jail. He holds all the cards. Don't argue, even if he is dead wrong. Just remember, he may not always be right, but he is never wrong. In the court room HE MAKES THE RULES.

Call the phone number on your ticket and speak to the Court Clerk about your fine and any possible suspension. Also ask if you're eligible for Defensive Driving. And please, for everyone's safety, SLOW DOWN!
