My dad is 68 yrs old and disabled. He has recently moved in with me and given me power of attorney. The problem is he has four guns, 2 rifles and 2 handguns, back in his home in NJ. I can not find the permits, etc. One rifle was my grandfather's and I believe one pistol was my dad's service weapon from Dept. of Corrections. Can I transport them across state lines without paperwork?

Room and board is one thing... even basic medical treatment is fine. But it's gotten out of control, at least here in California. Free medical and dental treatment, TV's in the cells, conjugal visits.... what's wrong with this picture? I know it can't be a "walk in the park", but many inmates probably find life in prison better than life on the streets. Prisons are overcrowded but many released inmates keep breaking the law and going back so it can't be all that bad.

Isn't there a way to give inmates minimal services and make it LESS comfortable so they might think twice next time they're about to commit a crime?

This is the last time I'm going to ask about bail bonds.

Let's examine this situation:

John is being accused of robbery. He's taken to jail for paper work or something else. He is being held in jail. If we have the innocent until proven guilty theory. Then what's a bail bond for? Can they legally hold me at the jail until the court date?

It doesn't make sense. Basically if I am John (in the example ^) how does a bail bond convince me to show up to court. Especially if someone else is going to pay for my bond. WHY A BAIL BOND? How does the whole bail bond thing play in?

I'm obviously so confused.

Help explain this to me.

Let's say that I am being accused of a crime and I am taken to jail. The court puts up a $5,000 bail bond. Let's say I can't pay it. So I call a friend up who says, "yeah, I'll pay that $5,000". How does that ensure my appearance in court. It's not my money either way; what do I care?

Now, with that type of situation present in our country (U.S.), why put a bail bond?

My question is:

Why even issue a bail bond if you know that the bond gives that person a chance to skip town.

What is a bail bond for?

Is there a service or group I can join that offers counseling for people who are afraid of the police (with reason for fear)?

I was hoping that victims of the police could get some free help from the city or state. Do you know of any groups like that? Or even individual counseling, if it's not too expensive?

This is Calvin. I know that cheating is always bad in society. I mean relationship infidelity (not adultery).

My question is are there laws in other countries on Earth that prohibit cheating on spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend. Exclude America b/c there's no law against it.

You do not need to tell me that adultry is illegal in some countries. Just cheating only. I am asking this question b/c I am curious about what is going on around the world.

A girl started a fight with my friend, and my friend won the fight. About 3 weeks later this same girl started a fight with me, and I won. Her parents called the police and told them we started the fights, we are bullying her, we are harassing her, constantly calling her house, spreading rumors about her etc... Her mom is trying to get my friend kicked out of martial arts (shes a first degree black belt) her mom is slandering us and we live in a small town (25000ppl) and our reputation is now on the line because of everything shes saying. My friends mom wants to sue this girls mom for slandering. I'm considering getting a restraining order against her. And she's trying to have charges of assult pressed against my friend and I even though she started the fights. She is lying to the police. I am 16 years old and get along well with almost everyone I know.
What can I do to make this stop? This is crazy now, everything she says to the police is a lie! Is a restraining order a good option?

i live in a council flat where theres a lot of youths that cause antisocial behaviour. the council arnt doing anything. they tell me they need alot of evidence. ive filled in endless diary sheets already and handed them in. The youths cause alot of disturbance with excessive loud noise, which includes, shouting obcenities like hooligans, playing loud rap/rave music all the time,i have been verbally harrassed twice now. but the police tell me they can't do anything unless a crimes been committed. i already suffer with depression, anxiety and anger, and this persistant behaviour makes life even tougher. The youths make the area an intimidating area to live and i feel threatend by them. im wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what i can do?? im presentley trying to look for private renting accomadation, but i dont no how long this will take. iam 29 year old. thanks

Thanks for all the wonderfull answers and support for my first question about this!
I was wondering if anyone thought that by filing a police report I would be making the situation worse? I'm a little afraid that his family or friends will get involved if we go to the police. I don't want to get anything else started, or make things worse for my daughter. I just want to make this go away. Has anyone else had a problem with a stalker before? If so, how did you handle it?
