I've been turned back at the canadian border on two separate occasions because of a DWI arrest 4 years ago. I play hockey in Canada often. If I try again, can I be arrested, is it likely, or can i apply for a temporary resident permit at the border once rejected? What to do?

The local bike shop gave out our personal information to a dangerous relative that we've been hiding from for 6 years. Now he is now harrassing us by calling and threatening to "visit". Is there anything we can do? Does a business have the right to give out a customers home and cell numbers along with address?

Here's the deal. For our detentions, we used to sit in a room (no more than three to a classroom). We just sat there and did nothing, or write an essay about why we are in detention. Detentions were always 3:15 - 5:15 on fridays. You would just sit in your school uniform for 2 hours and then go home.

But last Friday was the friday that started Christmas Break, so kids were eager to get out. There were about 35 kids in detention that day. About 12 left their room without permission and just roamed the hallways. Two trashed a room when the teacher left for one minute and three left the school (all five were arrested and taken to the police station). The other 18 or so (including me) were perfectly fine.

But due to this, our school is overhauling our detentions.

So here is the deal. You come at 3:15 as usual, but your hands are handcuffed behind your back while you're sitting at your chair.

They said it's to prevent anymore lawsuits, and they said it's legal.

Is it?

I need to analyze this statement:
“Human Rights legislation attempts to balance minority and majority rights.”

Does majority mean, the majority of people that are for one cause or law, or does it mean ethnic majority? what about minority?

My husband says we should call animal control to have to removed (since it wanders around freely without a collar), but I'm afraid they'll euthanize it or won't do anything since it's my neighbors. It rips open trash bags, gets in our trash cans, it rips open the bags for when I rake up leaves. What am I in my legal right to do?

A friend of mine recently became unemployed. His company offered him severance pay. But, in order to receive severance, he had to sign paperwork agreeing not to sue the company. He was supposed to receive 64,0000. But, his employer took 25,000 in taxes. This leaves him with very little money until he can find another job. He is responsible for supporting a family of 5. Can he still collect unemployment in additon to severance pay?

Or have they instead forfeited the right to have their lives respected by the very society whose lives they did not respect?

I'd like a bit more than just yes/no responses, which shall be frowned upon.

I've never been arrested, but some of my friends have.

So I want to know what exactly happens what happens when someone gets arrested.

Please indicate what would happen if it was an adult or a minor and each step.

As an example crime, let's say someone was shoplifting. So what would happen step by step if a 15 or 16 year old was caught shoplifting, compared to an adult?

Red light runners- when a cop pulls you over for running a red light it is a criminal offense. You have your rights and protections and are allowed to go to court in front of a judge and/or jury and confront your accuser.
When you get caught with one of those cameras at red lights, it is considered a civil offense and you don't have as many rights as in a criminal case. In fact, the burden of proof can be shifted to the defendant to prove that it was not them running the red light.
How can the same crime be criminal and civil?
This is Ohio I am talking about.

How do you think legislation tries to succeed in finding a balance between the rights of minorities and majorities? Please provide examples if you can. Thanks

I went to go visit him for the first time since August.
But in August I tried "tough love" by not responding to his
letter he sent days shortly after our August visit.
I went in to see him today in jail and they told me that
he took me off the list.
My mother and I finally chose to respond to him 2 weeks ago,
and he hasn't written back.
His release date is next month.
Why do you suppose he did this ?

Why don't we have prisoners, especially the ones who are serving life sentences, build our freeways and bridges and public buildings? I'm sure there's a reason this isn't commonplace... is it considered unethical or something? If there are any court cases relating to this I'd love to see them.

I currently have a court blocked bank account in Washington State, which was created in 1997 and I've moved out of Washington a long time ago. Now that I've turned 18, I could withdraw the funds but its been a pain in the butt trying to get the money. I called the Superior Court and they told me I would need to get an ex parte to go to the court for me as well as a cover letter and motion forms. What is a motion form and which one would I need to get? The court hasn't been a great deal of help and my bank wouldn't help me at all. My parents had a lawyer do all of the paperwork for us in order to determine the settlement money and we already paid him back in 1997, so I don't think I should pay for a lawyer again. This is all very overwhelming for me...How do they expect an 18 year old to figure this all out? Any help would be highly appreciated! Thanks.
